That's the way to top off a good day and turn it into a great one. I bet it was an epic battle and favorite rod came through again. Great deal on the spare.

Sir to say it was epic understates that wrestling match , that ole fish was wise and she made all the moves to escape flawlessly , she ran for a root ball and I turned her last second , though we were saying bye bye that run , then she ran right back at the dock and up under it into the dock legs , thought FOR positive sure she we were parting ways at that point , Somehow in the confusion she decided to go out from the dock after a few seconds under it and head for a brush pile , the only good news is by that point she was beginning to tire a bit and it was looking like I had a minimal chance to even see her , to that point I wasn't even sure what was on my line .
she did lots of open water train a rolling runs in the mix as well , not hybrid type runs , more like really big catfish runs .
She ran back at the dock and in my mind it is likely home plate for her , then right before the dock I put some serious pressure on her and up she came looking tired and ready to say when .....
soon as that occurred we marched to the shore down the main walkway and the rest was just photo opportunities...
AND BTW sir , she is highly likely to have been the toad that ruined the jig the week before under said dock ....just saying

Those bigger bass seem to be home bodies and don't roam around much as long as there is food and shelter. Some years back I caught the same 5lb + bass four times in 11 day period off the same dock post. It was blind in one eye but really fat. Then gone, probably got caught and taken home. Since you released her you might catch her again. That would be cool.

she really wasn't sporting any highly memorable attributes other than her sheer size , that lake holds numerous bass over 10 lbs. best I can tell , it is a VERY healthy lake and produces lots of quality fish in several species .
Heard tell one fella managed a 14 on bass tackle and to be very sure up over 5 lbs. size range is a pretty much a super easy deal if you chase bass .....
that fella showed me about 6 or 7 fish in the 9 to 10 and up range this year during the pre spawn....
it is really an amazing 35 or so acre lake that really gets very little management , I do think our crappie lake cleaning service helps the balance , after years of trucking out a few thousand a year , we have noticed much larger fatter fish in all the species that thrive in there ....
My hopes is there might be a real real big crappie in there in the near future , the owner told me they used to ketch some in the 3 to 4 lb range way back when....that might be a fact , told me any crappie over 3 needs to go to his big clubhouse freezer for a mount , said he was sad they ate all of them back when and never had one mounted ....

interesting about the one eye , we had a one eye over at another lake that was big and liked to rob crappie off folks lines at the crappie dock there ....bet it is the easiest place to feed when you only got one eye
