for straight down dipping they work fine , not as good for some other presentations though ....my thoughts
I just purchased a high dollar crappie rod. Very high quality. This particular rod is 7'4" Light action. I really like the rod but it comes with Micro Guides. I'm not sure I like the Micro Guides.
Anyone have Pros & Cons when it comes to Micro Guides?

Micro guides work pretty good if casting and retrieving, or single pole jigging. However, not so good if your slip corking. Bobber stops of any size will snag on the guides.

I like them okay. Seem to keep some of the wind knots out of light braid

Hate em. I stripped all my micro guide rods and put normal small #5 guides on them. One day with cotton on the water was enough for me to hate them.

I use em a lot on the rods with small braid. I don’t like em for use with mono. On the long rods like my BGJP’s I don’t think they’re much of an issue. Ultra light rods with small braid they really shine IMHO. On those rods I like em for keeping the weight down on the tip section. Some of my rods I’ve built I use the stainless guides in a more progressive decrease I. Size and they work great with mono. Hope this helps some.

Great until they’re not!!!
Might be the braid that’s more frustrating but hard not to use.
Terrible with slip floats and line wrap at the tip frequently. Never have issues with rods like my G Loomis but these rods with micro guides are tons of fun.
Thanks for the replies. This is what I have done. Would like some comments.
I loaded my new Dobyns 7'4" Light action with Daiwa J-Braid X8. I can shoot a 1/16 jig out of sight with it.
I really like this setup but I have to use 00 fast snaps in order to have the loop. This is hard on old eyes. If I break off, I'm out of luck. Just can't re-tie while on the water. I wish someone would come up with an easy loop knot for Braid.
This setup is great but I still use mono 4# on my 4 TFO rods. I'm thinking about putting braid on all my rods.
What do you think?
