Yes, we both agreed that it was much better than being at the plant working!

Kinda funny that you said that—this is his 2nd STA assignment in the US when he worked at our assembly plant in TN; that assignment was about 3 years. I’m surprised that no one in Smyrna or Murfreesboro took him fishing since he loves fishing when back home in Japan.

Good Ole Ross Barnett. Great to see it get the recognition it deserves. The Good Ole Rezz... You ever get over to the "Oil Well Woods" part? That Fishery was producing 2lb Crappie since the 70's & 80's. Congrats on spending time with a friend & enjoying the Outdoors while doing so. Seeing the Rezz in a post touches my Ole Heart.
Yes, I’ve been fishing the intake pump house, all along Spillway Road, The Breakers, and The Causeway during the spring for many years since I grew up near The Rez and came back after college to work. I like fishing those areas when I had a house in Rankin Co because it was a quick trip for a good couple of hours after work. That was before kids—now I live in Madison to be closer to work and for the school district and zone that my kids attend, which sometimes requires a little extra planning because I’m not 5 min from The Rez anymore.

I haven’t been to Oil Well Woods since a child, although I’ve been meaning to try it again when a little less crowded so that I can learn it. I’ve been making it a goal for the next 15 years before I retire to start learning how to fish in non-idea conditions (a little more wind than calm) and places that aren’t my norm so that I have more flexibility during retirement and when I want to take people out to fish.

It seems that the spawn is a little nutty this year with the ones that I’m catching still deeper than expected this time of year. Many people, including my dad, are leaving skunked and discouraged, although I’m still sneaking them out of the water with a decent load in the livewell to clean. Even the 3 that my son and I caught yesterday after he got out of school were big, and my son had a blast!

Absolutely wonderful ALL AROUND. You are Fishing & SPENDING TIME WITH YOUR FAMILY WHICH IS EVEN MORE IMPORTANT. Thanks for sharing this. Did you take him to eat that Good Ole Catfish at "Cock of the Walk"? Best to you JJue you have an envious experience. Some people don't have the people you do to share Fishing with.

Nice. Good to be able to reconnect with a friend you may have never thought you would see again.
