Default Ice fishing rod for tight places

Has anyone ever tried an ice fishing rod for tight places? Like trees or dock shooting? Seems to me that the short rod could be handy.

I shoot a lot and for me a 5’ or 5’6” is plenty short. I mostly fish banks with down trees and such all over and like shooting docks, you sometimes need to be accurate. I can get real close to a softball at 40’. A Shakespeare micro series rod works very well and they start about 4’6” and go up from there for about $20. Your line will be critical for this and those with strong memory don’t work well cuz the lighter the jig, the better it works. Hope this helps some.

we have one the women and kids use often , it is used for casting mostly and really brings up the level of fun on panfish ....
it doubles over hard on smaller fish and really makes a small fish fight a big thing

Earlier this year while fishing at a marina I talked to a fella that used ice fishing rods there. Most guys were casting across the marina but he fished straight down along side the docks. Light line and small jigs were productive. Ice rods can run 18"-36" with plenty of backbone to lift panfish.
