Cool Lake Bois D'Arc Challenge 4-22-24...

So Ole Lake Bois D'Arc opened up and I personally don't want to fish it. My Ole Buddy that Crappie & Bass Tournament fishes is trying to drag me out there when I really don't have a desire to fish it. So I threw him out a little competitive wager where we are stacking our abilities on the line with a new lake. This guy is a Real Fisherman but I'm just a Dot Chasing Electronics Guy who started fishing yesterday. Let's see what happens... Game On....

    $50 if you Limit

    &
    $50 if you catch 1 over 2.lbs

I wondered how long it would be before the challenge of a new lake was to much for ya. I still trying to get a report on the crappie fishing since 99% of the guys fishing it are ditch pickle specialist.

@Grain I DON'T WANT TO FISH THIS LAKE... This lake doesn't excite me AT ALL FOR CRAPPIE FISHING! Sure as a new lake big already stocked trophy fish are going to be caught but lets talk after?? This is going to be a Lake Fork Killer How? Where is the Standing Timber? This lake has flooded farm land that wasn't standing timber before it was flooded. It was Farm Land with Ponds on it. The flooded timber you see has created Marsh Back Wash with waters possibly 4 Feet + Deep where the fish can go & thrive but a human would need an Air Boat like in Florida to fish them. I see Hype vs Byte in regards to Crappie Fishing after the buzz is gone. You better have your Open Water Game Ready because the Standing Timber IS NOT THERE LIKE THE HYPE. I Feel "They are hyping this lake to SELL REAL ESTATE BROTHER"!

I make no accusations without some bearing to why I draw that conclusion. Look at this video Grain Click: Bois D'arc Lake in July 2023. Going to be the best fishing in the state. - YouTube After you watch that video, tell me how you are going to fish that flooded area without an Air Boat like you are in the Swamps? This is going to be a Brush Pile lake which isn't going to hold a CANDLE TO LAKE FORK. WHY??? Because Brush Piles aren't live Timber that breath Oxygen into the Lakes. Fish Like Timber for ambush, safety, & OXYGEN. Dead Brushpiles formed in the lake are going to collect fish at certain parts of the lake SURE!!!!!! But not like the rooted still grounded standing timber. Show me the standing fishable timber in this lake?? I've watched a bunch of footage and have the lake drawn down before it was flooded. The didn't flood the Standing Timber where it's submerged like a Palenstine, Bob Sandlin, Lake Fork. When you see video you see the Timber Line of Trees where water runs way behind it but it's not fishable. This is a Lake Development to push Real Estate from what I see. Time will tell. I can always say "I WAS WRONG". However, my resume is filled with more Gosh Darn that outspoken jerk was right.

4-22-24 Will tell. I have me at catching 12 -15 Crappie. I don't see me catching a Limit nor my buddy, but I'm going to put my money where my mouth is. If it's a great lake I'll tell you. If it's the way I'm thinking with it being a Brushpile Lake it's not going to be a Lake Fork Rival, Lake Palestine Rival, Lake Bob Sandlin Rival, or even Richland Chambers Rival. @Grainraiser, pull up pics of Richland Chambers or any of those lakes without seeing tons of timber & it's the most recent reservoir. What do I know? I'm not even a Fisherman.

Don’t have me interested in the least , have read nothing and seen nothing that makes me want to hit it , lots of old lakes near here that are loaded with crappie…..
The report the state put up on it and average crappie sizes just totally made me wonder what all the bla bla bla is all about …..
That stated , the fish in the picture is just an average crappie than don’t even look big or fat to me …..wasting gas and time is my bet ….
If the gill plate ain’t below the hand on a selfie , the crappie is at best only a regular ole crappie in these parts ….
    Just saying

I can't actually agree with you more. I'd rather be fishing Sandlin or Palestine honestly but since he wants to double the bet after us taking & nobody has an edge except for doing our own homework, it will be fun to challenge my buddy fishing his way in his boat, while I fish my waay in mine. That keeps us Ole Farts Competitive so I'm in. If I caught 50 @Ketchn I don't see me going back this year unless I find a pattern where I left them biting & could where them out. I'll let ya know. I don't think anyone is missing anything. I think this is hype to sell Real Estate. But it does look to be more of a Bass Lake than anything else to me for now.

it could be that years from now it turns out to be a smoker for crappie , some "bass" created spots go south as mankind tries to manipulate the lake , back when the bestest ever big bass and huge bluegill lake turned into a mudhole crappie lake when they decided to "control" the massive amounts of vegetation , to this day it never recovered and is full of average size crappie .....
went a few times over there just to ketch the monster coppernose and was late to the party .....
so it could happen it turns into a smoker years from now , just saying

I have only heard about bass fisherman gushing over the lake. Seems everyone else is taking a wait and see attitude. I have no idea if he will be another Fork or Joe Pool. Only time will tell but the jungle on the west end of the lake is very impressive. It will be years before a bass boat can get thru that stuff. I would like to fish it but I ain't in no kinda of hurry.

    Default B T W !

HEY unlike you , ran across this here post on Fakebook with that fella that did the selfie with the crappie in this thread
he apparently chases bass and had lots of bass images in the post ....
MOST of the bass had some sort of really nasty leprosy looking sore spots all over them !
I would be careful with whatever you eat out of said waters ....
it aint the right time of year for fish to have that kind of bad acne problems ....
might be bacterial or parasitic or god knows what ....
water ain't warm enough yet to be growing them kind of nasty things just yet locally ...and ...
I just know this about that ....
it made my skin crawl looking at it .....just fyi
