when I was 16 I watched several folks try desperately to save a fella that fell into a spillway , it was weird to say the least ....
somehow he managed to cling to a small hole in the wall of the concrete as the massive turbulence of a water being released in the spillway hammered on him ....
I stood a good ways back and watched as it ensued , there were folks tying ropes on themselves and jumping in with him and throwing life jackets at him and it was just surreal to say the least .
the turbulence in a spillway is a shocking force , several of the floatation devices went down and NEVER came back up ! One fella eventually made it to him and others on the bank drug them out as I watched from afar ...
about the time they got him to shore the po po showed up ......
AND they all got trespassing tickets from him for going into the water where it is was prohibited to be in the first place ....go figure

At the dam on Pickwick lake in Savannah Tn. there is nothing to stop you from going through the spillway ,boat and all. While living there I heard the tale of a fellow, his wife and a friend who lost power, going through. Only she survived. Always used to go upstream at least 3 or 4 miles to fish from the dam. The current would pull you to the dam without power.

Not eerie or weird but u usual for sure. I had just gotten my bass boat, the Other Woman, in may of ‘09. I was easing down a bank looking for some shellcracker beds, when
I heard what I thought was coyotes yipping. Being spring I thought I had stumbled on a mess of pups just out of a birthing den or something like that. As I came around a little point, there was who is now my dog Emma standing in the water and calling for help it would seem. I asked her what she was doing, she took a few steps toward the boat til the water got too deep and I headed that way. She was 60% emaciated according to the vet the next day when she got a full checkup and all her shots needed by a 12 week old pup. She’s been with us ever since. I hope my wife never has to choose between her or me cuz I’ll be sleeping in a box down by the river. She’s 15 now and I dread the day. He works in mysterious ways.

Jigging walleye on the Detroit River a buddy hooked a "big one". Gave him quite a fight. When he finally got it horsed to the surface we got a good laugh, he had hooked a condom on the rim(?) and it inflated in the current like a wind sock. No one would help him land that one.

4-11-24 Thursday, after driving 2 hours 1 way to fish Lake Palestine the "Deep End Boat Ramp" was about 1-2 feet "UNDER WATER".You had to launch your boat before you actually hit the Boat Ramp. When I got out the Truck I contemplated it for about 10 minutes & decided because I knew the angle of the ramp I'd just get wet & do it after the 2 hour drive. The water walking to the back of the truck was up to my calf & OVER MY BOOTS WHERE IT RUSHED IN. I still proceeded to launch. After getting in the boat the boat would float off the trailer about a 1 or 2 feet & then something on the right side would stop the boat like it hit a wall. I had to jump down in that water at the bow of the boat 4 times to take the trailer in & out to see if I had the straps undone or what was going on. The 5th time I went way deeper for it to just float off the trailer completely but it was something I've never experienced before and EERIE. It's like something was making me stop. So I said is this a sign that I shouldn't fish? After, launching & going up Blackburn Bay less than 2,000 feet, it just felt E E R R I E!!! Something was saying Terry don't go fishing. #2. I throttled down where I was in Idle & something was telling me TERRY DON'T GO FISHING!!! #3 The water was a murky reddish/orange hue. Eerrie.. Something was telling me "Turn around & GO BACK TO THE RAMP, or don't & you will get what you get". I turned on my 2D, Down Imaging, & Side Imaging and ZERO. Nothing... NO READING/PINGING. The Maps were working fine. Zero Sonar. So I said Gosh Darnit. I know what happened. My darn Transducer on the right side was hitting the freaking boat ramp & I've freaking knocked it off slamming the darn boat in reverse full throttle to freaking Launch at the ramp. UGH!!! Here Goes another $500 bucks, so I headed in. It was like somebody was in the boat telling me to just pack it in and don't do it today & it was SCARY WEIRD. I loaded the boat, got wet again for the 6th time, & pulled the boat and trailer out to secure it. THE TRANSDUCER WASN'T EVEN SCRATCHED. STILL MOUNTED STRONG. What the heck??? All the while I was on the lake with that feeling I kept saying to myself if I Drown, or something bad happens I can never say I was told like somebody was in the boat with me to not move forward to fish. So I listened. Left the boat ramp, & proceeded to take the boat to the boat repair place I was having some upgrades done with & I told him to also look at my Sonar. He fired it up & it came on like a Charm. Everything working FINE! WUT DA HECK MAN!!!! SOMETHING, SOMEONE, SOME ENTITY WARNED ME NOT TO FISH PALESTINE YESTERDAY & IT WAS DONE AT SUCH AN URGENCY THAT IT WAS SCARY THAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN MY LAST RIDE. Zero Fiction in this story from yesterday 4-11-24. I will leave you with this. When something is stirring inside you telling you "NOT TO DO SOMETHING IN A SOFT QUIET VOICE THAT IS SO LOUD THAT IT STARTLES OR SCARES YOU?" LISTEN!!!!!!

Terry, I have a number one rule in life; follow your gut. Gibbs had it right. I’ve been spoken to a few times in my life when there was no one else present. If I ignored it and proceeded in the wrong direction I regretted it later. It may also take a while for things to come to pass, but the gut is seldom wrong.

After just pulling away from the toll booth my van started acting up and the engine died. Fortunately it had enough momentum to allow me to steer into a safe out of the way paved area beside the lane I had been in. After a few trips to the tool box, in the rear of the van, I decided I would have to call AAA for a tow. So back and forth putting tool’s away and using hand cleaner with a rag, I cleaned up to make my phone call. While walking back and forth on the phone I noticed a man’s wedding band lying in the traffic lane coming out of the tollbooth. I thought why would anyone throw their ring out there? So when the coast cleared I stepped out to retrieve it. Upon inspection, only then did I realize it was mine and must have come off while I was cleaning my hands. Thank you Lord! Being married less than a year at that time, I no doubt would have been in the doghouse with no idea where it had been lost. lol

Similar story. I was doing some last minute fixes to the last camper I sold and emptying it out. Well I saw a few loose screws and items in my tool box that I would no longer need. Decided to empty the tool box right then and just put the tools back in. Good thing I did not just remove the tools and dump it into my garbage can. Low and behold I found my wedding ring that had been missing about 2.5 years in the box. Now I have 2 but am still missing the 1 my wife bought for me when we married. Sure wish it would show up, but it came up missing about 10 years and 4 houses ago. ps. I also lost 3 wedding rings during my first marriage. I am bad setting them down and forgetting where.
