Reminds me of something that happened when I was a teenager. We had a sand flat in about 4 feet of water in Bayou Teche. We would go after football practice sometimes for a dip. We were out there one afternoon and had heard a person was missing and the police thought he may have drowned. Well I stepped on something. It felt like cloth and gave way a little. I was sure it was the person. I told my friends to back up. I hated doing it, but reached down to pull it up. Never in my life was I so glad to pull up a water logged pillow. Whew what a relief. Unfortunately my nephew found the guy floating a couple miles from there a couple days later while fishing. Tied him to a dock and called the sheriff.
