    Default Heart Breaker

Got out yesterday and fished a local river. Started out good with several nice Kentucky bass up to 3# and a couple big whites followed. Bass were caught on a 1/4 OZ Manic Mullet head rigged with a 4" Keitech. Whites on a 3/32 fox hair jig. I saw a big swirl and pitched the Keitech out and didn't even have the bail closed when this monster hybrid hit, turned and took off across the river. Almost spooled me before I turned it and started to gain some line back. Finally, after maybe ten minutes I had him close with the net at my side. Fish turned and the hook came out. This was my dream fish, easily 15 lbs, maybe more. 10# braid held but fish did a number on the VMC 3/0 hook. Still shaking, this would have gone on the wall. Name: IMG_5073.jpg

WTG Jim. I live right on top of that river but only fished it a couple times. Those were some crazy good fish! Sorry the hook couldn't hold on for just a few minutes more!

It was a big hybrid striper. I've caught them up to 9.25 # and this one looked twice as big. The pulling power of these fish is incredible, wish I could find them on a regular basis. Retired the jig, have it hanging on my wall as a reminder to how strong they are. 10# braid is really strong, but zero stretch which accounted for the bend out.

they pull WAY past normal , amberjack and sockeye quality pulling .....
we used to hold 2nd place in the State in the record books back when .....
chased them pretty hard in really great Hybrid lake south of dfw when I was younger ....
the one we lost made the 2nd place fish look so so ....
man was it a battle and boy howdy did we cry when the big top bait water came out after trying to net it several times
