Cool post. Personally I throw all the ditch pickles back.
you are filling a bucket up to give fish to your brother .....
do you put bass in with the crappie ?
and what about the bream ?
guess it depends on how big of a bass is my answer .....
some bass just ain't what I think is edible size ....
sides all that , bigger bass take up to much bucket space anyway .....
the big bass got set free , everything else went in the bucket ....
the 4 lb test fight with that bass was totally legendary .....
it got big AIR so many times it was unreal ....
I think it was part bird ....
I tried in vain from far away to get a good video ....nope
but to be sure he just made his last cast and had a crappie on the bank when it hit .....
we were heading out when it went down ...
sure was a super lovely finish to a super windy outing ....
KABOOM is near

his bro likes to make ceviche , bass about the size in the bucket work ok for that .....
the smaller fish are for frying in the disc in the backyard whole , heads still on when they fry them ...
pescado frito on the menu today with ceviche on tostadas tomorrow is my guess ...
depends on the lake as far as green carp. in bigger ones I throw them all back for the guys who specialize in them but in smaller lakes we do keep some as you need to harvest some to keep things in balance. still a nice fight on light tackle and especially when they get air borne.
Great Job m friend. Wind just makes it a bit more challenging.

it is a small lake and MAN I was trying to get a decent video , that fish went airborne over and over .....
he fought it for around 3 minutes total ....
the first jump it was screaming his drag and left the water like porpoise going the opposite direction ....
looked from afar to have covered about 5 or 6 feet in the air ,shaking it's head as it flew away from him way high above the water , the entire fish was in the air ....
just legendary show type stuff ....
a few sailfish off costa rica back when would have likely been in a really tough competition with her post spawn show ....
it don't get much better for sure

I release all bass, even the really big ones. Haven't kept one since 1994. But I still fish for them regularly. I caught several yesterday and they were all crazy jumpers, biggest one had to clear the water 7 or 8 times, not happy at all with me.
Ketchn haha
I try not to ketch them myself , but sometimes I pitch at them just kuz ...
2 in that bucket of fish were hammering fry along the shoreline in the wind ....
I buzzed my float by them intentionally to grab attention and then stop it a split second till they hammer the jig following the float , really stupid fish and they totally fall for it EVERYTIME

Wow, I’ll take those jumpers all day long! Great to keep the heart pumping!
