    He didn't say how many wires ran from the batteries to the TM. Just said his SIL changed the plug from a 3 wire to a 2 wire.

    If you change the plug to 2 wire, there's only two live wires to the battery...

    Just a follow up to close out the question.
    When I asked that, I was just back from a two week hunting trip. I finally had a chance between rain storms to check things out.
    The fuses all appeared to be good so when I checked them, I noted low volts on one of the two trolling motor batteries. 1.2 volts almost fooled me thinking 12.0.
    Put the charger on and the TM will turn in the low gears. Slow, but it turns. New TM battery will be on soon.
