Sorry for the bad luck, hope you get back at it soon. Good thing you had the Lord on your side!!
I finally Was on my way to the lake to wet a line this afternoon, when a person cut me off going around me. I hit the brakes a bit harder than I should have and got a very large surprise. I felt a slight bit of steady brake pedal, then No resistance at all as the pedal went straight to the floor.. I quickly threw the tranny in Neutral and pulled the emergency brake and pushed the four ways to warn anyone behind me. Found the shoulder fortunately, and discovered, after a couple hundred deep breaths a few thousand "Thank You LORDS", brake fluid dripping from in front of the left rear wheel.
The culprit, a rusty steel brake line had burst...end of fishing trip right there. Thankfully, I had some light traffic, and secondary roads to get me home. SLOW, slow, slow 20 MPH, four way flashers, and some steady nerves, and extra attention to all my surroundings.
Once again, everything put on hold, as the truck needs a tranny, and moms jeep needs a brake line now. It will be about a week till I can get this working again...AAAAARGH!!!!! Seems to me 2024 isn't starting out worth a hoot!!!

Daggum Eric, you can’t seem to catch a break. Good thing for your fast thinking and remaining calm or could have been worse. Hopefully things start improving for you. It does seem to be a challenging year.

Not good, well kinda good, you're OK, and that's what counts, the Jeep can be fixed. Now that you through all this bad luck, nothing but good luck for the rest of the year, right. At least hopefully.

I'm glad you got stopped. I had a customers 24ft Center Console behind my 2001 2500HD and that happened to me. Turned around, got home, un-hooked the boat, then checked for leaks. Well brake fluid was dripping from the middle of the frame. Turns out GM put cheap carbon steel brake lines on their Pickups of that era. I had to replace every steel brake line on that truck. I replaced them with Stainless Steel.

Thank you folks. I am, above all thankful my Guardian Angel was watching over me, Glad that other Lady didn't hit her brakes after passing med, and third, maybe most thankful Ms. Joyce was at home. She most Likely would have had a heart attack...
