    Default Batteries / Cost

Dang cost of lithium batteries are from one extreme to another . priced 3 and a charger and was $3500.00 Next was 150.00 each and 300 .00 for charger . Do the cheaper ones hold up ? Do they stand behind warranty ?

Sometimes you get what you pay for. Recently was a thread where a member had bought some cheaper lithium batteries and had all kinds of issues with them. They went on vacation on Slabs home lake and he let them use an Impulse Lithium battery and they had no further issues. When they returned home they bought Impulse Lithium and have no more issues.

Impulse Lithium is a good site sponsor, stands behind their product and offers discount to cdc members. As Slab says “support those that support us”.

Before you buy anything that is expensive or has a warranty, check out the company. Especially if you are considering “cheap” lithium batteries from that A site. If you buy $150 lithium trolling batteries, you may be asking for trouble. Google search the name on the battery. Do they have a website. Is there contact info? Phone or email address. There better be. Before you buy, reach out with a question about the product. See if they respond. If they won’t before they get your money, they certainly won’t after they get your money.

I’ve only found 3 of the cheaper batteries have websites with a way to contact them. Those batteries start at $260 for a 12v 100ah battery. Tried to contact some thru A website and only one responded. I tried all 3 websites I found and 2 responded. I bought 2 trolling batteries from one of them.

You will be happy with a board sponsor. If you try “cheap”,you roll the dice and hope.

I tried researching this subject and just got a headache. Most of the cheaper batteries are from China and use inferior parts. This is does not mean the battery will not do what it is suppose to do. A warranty means nothing if their is no place to have the work done. I tried to find those diamonds in a sea of duds but none of them stood out. I can accept spending $100 for a cheap battery and it craps out in two years. I cannot accept spending $500 for a battery and watching it crap out in two years. Buying a battery for your electronics is a heck of alot cheaper than buying a few for your trolling motor. Take a chance on the former and pass on the later. I have Amped Outdoors for one boat and some Eco Worthy on the other. I'm still running deep cycles for both boat trolling motors because I am to cheap to buy name brand batteries and too afraid of buying generic Chinese brand.

I bought 3 lithiums on Amazon , Tried to save some cash. They worked great when they worked. sometimes one or more would test
dead after charging. Let them sit long enough and they would test full charge. I think they were shutting down after charging for some reason, My charger is supposed to be good for Lithiums . they have been sitting on a table in the garage
for 6 months and they all tested full charge this weekend, I tried to return under warranty , my requests were answered by email
asking me to do all sorts of testing , which I am not equipped to do. So they sit as a reminder..

    good luck

Sounds about right. The cheap brands are all china throwaway companies making batteries out of recycled cells from automative/solar industry and then selling under another throwaway company in the USA on amazon. If they have a website, they don't care about the customers and will just give a run-around until you give up, when they have enough negative reviews they simply change the company name and start over.

The exception are resellers who buy from china and resell in the usa as a legit company, they are almost always in California. They will work with you somewhat but they still dont want a return because they cant get any refunds from the back lot fake China factory they imported them from.

I use "budget brand" lithiums and they work fine for me. Zero issues.
