Default Advice for upgrading trolling motor

So my current trolling motor is an ‘01 minn kota powerdrive with co-pilot. It’s done well but really would like spotlock and maybe a foot pedal. I run Garmin graphs if that influences anything. I don’t need auto deployment and don’t currently have live scope but would like it in the future. Currently saving up but don’t know what to aim for. Thanks in Advance!

What trolling motor do you recommend and why?

, I have an ULTREX from Minn Kota and I run H Bird graphs. It’s been a bullet proof TM for me. Since you run GARMIN graphs you may want to go with a FORCE TM from Garmin. I’m interested to see the feedback you receive.

If you like your current trolling motor you could just buy Minn Kota Powerdrive I-Pilot upgrade kit to add spotlock. You not be able to add a foot pedal with it. The upgrade kit will cost you $300 without the I-Pilot remote and $500 with it. This is the unit I have and it works fine.

Ultrex is what I’ve had over the last three boats I ve owned. Just a good all around trolling motor.

I have had an Ultrex for years now and fished from friends boats before I had it and liked it. With the price of them now a days, I would recommend trying to find someone with an Ultrex and a Garmin to see which one you like. Evenpay for a guide trip if need be as last thing you want to do is spend 4-5k on one and not like. I hear great things about the motor guide and the power pole but have yet to see or know anyone with one to get a real world assessment on. Also hear great things about the new brushless Ultrex too but don’t know anyone with one. They look about like the original Ultrex but upgraded.

I looked it up and (if memory serves me correctly) mine is one year off from being able to do it

I have been looking at the new powerdrives that have the micro remote and have spot lock. Haven't heard any feed back on them yet.

A YouTube video you may want to watch from Randy (troutmagnetman) about his current experience with MinnKota troll motors.

It's got to be a 2017 or newer to use the upgrade kit.
