I carry unpainted and pink with me. Some days i feel fancy and put a pink on, usually i tie on an unpainted. Ive never felt unpainted basic round head barbed collar was a disadvantage. For bodies/hair ive never felt it matters too much, if it looks like a fish or a bug that crappie will bite.

Some guys get caught up buying $3-5 special jigs...not me

Don’t need nothing fancy to get em to bite. Here’s some of my ties that work well.

I'm the worst at buying things I don't need especially when they are on clearance. Almost all of the lakes I fish the water is muddy. The only jigs that really work are a black jig head with a black and chartreuse jig body. That's all you need. If you present it right it will work.

    Then there's this
IF it doesn't catch the FISHERMAN'S eye it won't make any money for the company

I have to admit . I have a large selection of jig and bodies . A box devoted for each of these . Bobby Garland baby shad, Muddy Water , Crappie Magnet, Slider jigs , Southern pro/ mid south and a box of jokers . I recently threw out / gave away all jig heads but pink , orange , chartreuse(3 sizes of each color 1/32, 1/16 , 1/8 ) . Used to use black , white and red for ever but reduced my tackle to make sure I have what I need with me even in someone else boat . All this to say my brothers and I had a competition to see who could catch a large fish using 4 inches of red yarn tied to a jig head . I t was during the spawn and no trouble .

I'm the same but when fish aren't biting I've used these shiny jigs and started catching fish so sometimes you need to use something different.

Every full moon the bite slows to a crawl. Not a minnow or newest BG will work during mid day for me. They would bite this ugly jig I came up with by mistake. A solid gray 1/32oz marabou I put chartreuse dye on the tail but hung it upside down so it jacked it up. Looks like crap so I called the new color I made by its new name “Crap”. The slabs did like it when nothing else worked. Nobody would ever buy this crap but the black crappie on the Coosa River think it looks tasty
