    likely 2.25 or so is my guess , hard to say for sure ,was built EXTRA thick , not the same build as the average crappie in these parts for sure , but the second fish was actually a bit longer and still pretty thick as well , both were in the lower end of the 2 plus range in my opinion .

    actually got a not so nice look when I dropped it in a 5 gallon to take back to my work crew , seems he is taking lots of them private dock fish home with him lately , so when in Rome dont ya know

    these size range fish are kinda different for sure , but since I am running beefy mono in the spring and short stiff stick with a round 7 foot of line off the tip , if it starts off as heavy and you know for sure you just stuck a big fish ....
    it is typically at that point I do my best to not let them get the upper hand and bring em up top as fast as I can , the dock is full of stuff that will cut you off down below and a big fish will often do that in there .
    big crappie fights best not last long on larger fish with extra spring steam under that saw mill down below , they tend to escape about half the time in that spot if given much time to get after it ....
