Default Daiwa Airity ST SF reel made in Japan just released

Daiwa just released the lightest spinning reel to date, 130 grams, made in Japan, several models available. They also released a 2000 Certate made in Japan, older models started at 2500, though not as light as the airity.

Yes, for 2500 Yuan not US dollars. Digitaka discounts these reels
for $100 off MSRP and no shipping and no tax from JP and current weak Yen, so
around $350, still pricey though. If you buy from USA retailer for JDM tackle, price is double that.

I think it depends on how light of rods you use. I have a couple of rods that were built with Matagi blanks that weigh only 30 grams complete and even a standard 1000 reel seems to overwhelm the rods. The only consolation I have is that the upper end of reels made in JP are 3x the cost like Stella or Steez which is way more than I would spend personally. For lightness at a more reasonable cost, the Kast King Kestrel at 135 grams is quite nice and the xtra spool is only $10 though made in China.
