    Default Boat insurance?

After my retirement boat was rear-ended on the way to Florida and totaled, the insurance company gave me 75% of what I payed just 16mths earlier. So after months of struggle I've decided to look for a company that offers a Agreed/Declared value policy.
The company handling my claim took 9weeks and 5 different appraisal companies to determine a value!
Who do you guys recommend? Please don't say State Farm, they have the worse record of all. Name: 20240125_102330.jpg

Am Fam has done declared value for my boat for years and no issues. Never had a total but did lose a trailer axle and a lower unit, different times but years ago.

I was rear ended a few years ago & I done pretty good. They had all state insurance. After low balling me I told them I wanted to have my own marine surveyor there when theirs was so we could agree on things & they were going to pay me for my stuff or we’d go to court just which ever one they wanted. Called me back in 15 minutes ready to settle & done me good I thought.

I have Erie and I have been really happy with them. I haven't used a claim on boat yet, but a couple of auto claims and home claim went sound and easily and was took care of quickly. Would think a boat claim would be just as easy and quick. My best advice is to make sure you have a good agent. Insurance is only as good as the agent you have representing you. I personally wouldn't have a agent that I didn't already know on a first name basis.

I have Progressive and it's an agreed value policy, a few thousand more than the boat would sell for. Limit I believe is $10,000 on electronics and $5,000 on miscellaneous like gear etc. Plus 300k liability, my policy runs about $450 annually if paid up front at renewal. Never had to file a claim yet fortunately.

I have Progressive and agree with the sentiments of Snubby. Knock on wood no claims so far.

Progressive, agreed value. No claim experience with them.

I have had Farm Bureau all my adult life. No reason whatsoever to change. I was recently involved in an auto accident. I visited numerous body shops in the Chattanooga/Ooltewah area. And the first question asked was which insurance company. They ALL stated upfront that they would not take the work if the insurance companies were Progressive and Liberty. I promise you this is the truth.

Progressive paid off quickly and fairly when my boat had to be salvaged from a lake bottom due to a poor rescue effort from the Coast Guard and Fire Department.
