    as with so many things , QUIT making them shiny looking like they are wet ....

    Next time at hobby lobby pick up some 1in x 1in square stock of balsa wood and try it.

    I was looking at the balsa wood supply at my local HobbyLobby and all they had was the bags of assorted blocks. I left them as I have no way to cut them down right now. May have to order some 1"x1" stock. Thank you for the suggestion though.

    That is cool. I never thought of making those. I shouldve done that to keep me busy but instead I married a woman 13yrs younger than me

    I have a Jet mini lathe that I have not fired up in years. I may have to give it a whirl.

    Before and after photos. Red straws are tube off canned air, and white straws are the 5/32 tubes from HobbLobby. Used general purpose epoxy to hold tube in place. Put tube where you want it then mark ends of float on tube. Slide tube toward top, then smear epoxy about 2/3 the distance from top to bottom. Slide cork down tube with a twisting motion to bottom mark. Wipe off excess. Let dry. Once dry, their ready to get wet.Name:  20240312_185250.jpg
