Nothing fancy
On smaller rods I use the pflueger president sp20's (+/- 5.7oz).
Longer rods get a diawa reagal 1000 lt (+/- 6.7oz)
I don't do a lot of fishing, only catch 1000/1200 fish a year. I do service my reels once a year, oiling/lubing/checking line, etc. Been using the pfluegers for years and started using the diawa's when they came out with the lighter air rotor systems. The old diawa 1000's were 8oz & the new air rotor setup brought the 1000 down to 6.7oz.
Haven't had any issues with the reels even though I had to set up to #8 braid due to the excessive amounts of catfish that seem to always be around. The catfish destroyed the #2/#4/#6 mono. Using a lite drag (normal for panfish) simply allowed them to run until they tangled on bottom structure.
A typical day catching panfish.

My rods are what take a beating from the catfish/#8 test. When kayak fishing I like to use a pflueger 4' 8"/sp20 combo for a short pole (#2-#6 rated). Broke 1 of them on a huge catfish. The massive runs/thrashing they do on ultra-lite equipment will test the limits of any setup.
