    Default Garmin Transducers

I'm thinking about updating my electronics. I have been looking at Garmin. I know somebody on here has had both the GT54 & GT56 transducers. Please tell me if it's worth the difference in the money. It's hard for me to do it all at once, but within the next year, I would like to have 2 new Garmin units & a new Garmin trolling motor.

    Thanks for any help.

The gt56 will give you more range, and ever so slightly more detail up close. If you need to run SI in detail for bottom hugging fish out past 30 feet on each side, you want the 56.

I can pick up twigs and individual rocks on SI with a 54, crappie and brush piles are no issue.

What I did was buy the fish finder with the GT-54 to save $1000 and bought the GT-56 transducer on Amazon for like $300. I got the same setup for $700 cheaper that way. I got the 106sv for reference, but the same can be done with any of Garmins offerings.
