If rod manufactures honored all the claims they get they’ed be out of business pretty quick. This is the very reason rod warranty’s aren’t much to speak of today. Years back a lot of companies would have lifetime warranty no questions asked. Many times all you had to do was take rod back to where you purchased it and get a replacement on the spot. I did this several times at Bass Pro on their branded rods as well as rods from TFO, Shimano, and others. Took a Shimano Compre UL rod back 3 different times and got a new one. Companies soon found out this was not going to work, and they did away with it. In today’s world you may have to ship a rod back so the manufacturer can determine if the rod was defective. If they see it your way you’re good to go. If not then they will tell you they can replace for such and such a price, or they could turn you down period. In reality it is rare for a rod to break from a defect. Most are broke from misuse or by accident. Even for rods made in USA, which is very few, they also can’t honor but a very small percentage of warranty claims. ST Croix has a free lifetime warranty on their Panfish Legend Elite. See a lot of folks talk about how great that warranty is until they file a claim and read terms of warranty. Nothing free about it when it comes to a claim.

I can fully appreciate companies cracking down on warranty claims. Many years ago I knew of more than one person who made multiple claims on a rod that broke purely because of their own carelessness. That seems unreasonable to me. I know there is a high profit margin in these rods but it still is not unlimitrd. At the same time it seems that a year is a reasonable time to expect people to find out if their rod has a problem not just six months. What if you bought it in late fall and didn't get to fish it until spring?

And at the very least a replacement tip should be available without too much difficulty as long as the rod is still being produced.

The St Croix warranty is reasonable if you have an expensive rod like a Legend Elite Panfish. But on the lower end rods it's has questionable value.

I bought a used St Croix Avid from a guy on Facebook Marketplace. Broke the first time I used it. St Croix replaced it for $60. I didn't have to send in the old rod and they let me pick any Avid or Victory I wanted. The MSRP for the replacement rod was around $200.

For most rod companies, I wouldn't worry about the warranty. Usually the shipping costs couple with the wait aren't worth it. It's just easier and almost cheaper to buy a new rod.

I personally don't have a problem with a one year warranty. That seems like a reasonable time frame to me. I do think they should be able to offer a tip replacement for a reasonable cost. ACC does most of his marketing by sending rods to people who fish for crappie with Youtube channels. That same media can ruin a company in a hurry.

Any company who won't back their products is mmmm ot worth buying from.

Can tell you from experience recently BnM DOES back their products and didn't charge me anything for replacement OR SHIPPING. Twice. So they have a loyal customer here.

Thanks for your report. I was thinking a out buying one.

LOL! I honestly thought the same thing before posting. I'm thinking it's because it's the truth. Don't get me wrong, I really liked the rod, just not very durable at all and no backing by the company.

I have 4 ACC Crappie Stix 14' footers. They sent me an extra rod tip when I ordered them. I have ordered 2 more 14' and 2 16' footers since. To date I have not had a problem with any of them. That's not to say some havent. I have B & M 14' trolling rods and Ed Dukes Southern crappie rods and did break a tip on one of those. Ed sent another right away. They are tough but seem heavy to me.

In any business it is easier to keep a customer than get a new one. Or that has been my experience. ACC should stand behind their products.

Sorry you have had a bad experience with them. They probably have lost a customer.

Not a fan of ACC rods. Bought one from Whiskers when they first came out. Figured I’d try the 14 foot model. Broke the tip section in my rod locker. Told Andy, the owner, and he sent me a new tip along with a new rod. No charge. Fished it a few times but didn’t like the feel of it. Sold it to my brother and gave him the other one too. Have you contacted Andy Lehman? That would be better than posting here to get your problem taken care of. He was a good guy with me.

No matter which brand you use most of the time in a failure , it is something the user did . Putting rod in too deep of bend, cracking by hitting or stepping on rod , or plain abuse . But rod companies need to offer tip sections at a reasonable price or tell folks right up front .

I was thinking about getting an ACC until I read this, the price was the only thing I couldn't justify.BnM rods are my fav.Cherrywood rods are the only ones I have had break on their own for me,the rest were my fault.I am sure you guys already know this ,but just in case, if I get hung up with mono I pull the rod towards me
Keeping the rod straight,if it's braid and don't come loose just cut the line.
