She was out in what is deep water at that lake , within a mile or 2 of her exists nothing deeper than 10 fow , there are no drop offs , it’s over 100 years old and silted in heavily.
And for sure positive, she was pushing the lake record on that lake hard , lake record is only slightly over 2 lbs and even without weighing her , I know she hit the 2 range pretty easily.
Behaving the same no matter what lake is common, but knowing the lake well , helps tremendously in knowing where that size fish will be when .
There are likely many more of her size range close to where she was, waiting their turn , they love to hang around in the last 2 boat slips in the deepest water at that spot early in the spawn.
One thing for certain playing ketch with crappie that size under a dock that’s been there forever that has about as many ugly things under it imaginable and only a lil stick in hand ,makes for a heart racing lunch break no doubt about it
Had to cut off 3 foot of line after that battle, she raked my line against all kinds of rusty stuff below my lil feet , that there sand paper feel on 6 lb mono means tie it up again or get heart broke and upset next fish on …

It is SO heavy, doesn’t suit me well on my baby stick , but sure is highly visible and that is a key element this time of year , if it gets seen , it will likely get bit , just saying

It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!
