Default BPS Micro Lite Elite spinning reel

I have a LOT of UL spinning reels. In reality, I probably ought to sell 3 or 4 UL rod/reel combos because I'm simply getting more than I can use. Most of my combos are of pretty decent quality these days too. I have a habit of having 6 or 8 of them on the deck of the boat for my own use and I always tell anyone fishing with me that they're welcome to grab one of my outfits should they need to (my fishing partners are the worst for always developing twisted line or some other issue). But now I don't even have all of my UL combos in the boat anymore because there are just too many of them.

I just ordered a BnM Sharpshooter Six rod and though I could have swiped a reel from one of my other rods that I don't use much, I chose to order an inexpensive reel from BPS at the same time. I ordered the Micro Lite Elite in a size 5. The reviews were decent for a $40 reel, the capacity is good (180 yards of 4 pound mono), weight is more than acceptable (6.2 ounces in this size) and I presumed it would be of acceptable quality for a Crappie dock shooting reel (I mean, how good does the drag have to be for the average Crappie?).

When I got the reel, I discovered two potential issues with it and I'm leaning towards returning it (it's a one-hour drive to the closest BPS for me, but it's supposed to rain today and what else would a retired guy do?). First of all, there's one spot where the bail only flips about halfway over and if you were to hit that spot while fishing, I'm quite sure that your cast would be less than optimal. 95% of the time when you flip the bail to make a cast, it's fine, but when you hit that one spot, it only goes about halfway over. Secondly, when the spool is at the peak of it's trajectory, the bail rubs against the plastic drag knob whenever you open or close the bail. Again, most of the time the spool is at some point other than it's highest, so it's not an issue, but if you happen to stop reeling when the spool is at the apex and then flip the bail to make a cast, the bail hits the knob. It still works technically, but it rubs and it's obviously not right.

I guess I'm not sure if ALL of the Micro Lite Elite reels do this or if I just got a lemon. What do you all think? Keep the reel and just put up with those few occasions when you might have to flip the bail more than once or return it? The problem is that if I return it, I really can't get much for the amount of the credit ($39.95 I think), so I'd likely add $10 or $20 bucks and purchase a Daiwa, Pflueger or some other brand of reel and again, I don't really need another spinning reel, although I do like the idea of having a new reel to put on the new Sharpshooter (which is supposed to arrive from FedEx today).

For what it's worth, I traded it for a Lew's Speed Spin reel and tossed in the difference ($20). Seems like a much better reel, although it's not terribly light in hand. Like I said, I'm really at the point where I arguably should sell some rods and reels because I'm unlikely to use them again, so I didn't really need this one, but we'll see how it goes.
