It depends on if you use apple or android....or drive a ford or chevy...or if you like gene johnson or scott echols better... as far as the rods it depends on if you wanna buy and cry once or sell and buy to trade up as you go.

I use spyderlock holders and half b&m PST and half pro angler tackle all are 16'. And please long line out the back first.

It's generally considered "Pushing" if you run your rods out the front of the boat, but Pushing generally involves using extra weights to keep the baits at the required depth while also on a shorter length of line.

Longline Trolling is generally done out the side or back end of the boat ... with little to no extra weight and a "long" length of line to get the baits down to the required depth (and also may include a slower trolling pace).

I have the Hi-Tek Stuff Elite Series rod holders and have used them for both Pushing & Longline Trolling methods, but primarily for Pushing. I've used 7ft to 14ft rods (w/1oz weights @ ~1mph) for Pushing jigs. But, understand ... I'm fishing for Crappie !! Not Stripers, Hybrid Stripers, Catfish, Walleye, etc., but the occasional bycatch does occur. I do not have any of my rods pointing towards or straight out the back of the boat.

This is the only pic I have that shows my rod holders (2020) ...

*Note ... before screwing the mounting plates into the floor, I measured reach distance from my seat AND (on the left side) how far back from the gunnel I would need for the rod holders to be so that I could raise/lower my trolling motor without having to disassemble that rod holder to do so. These particular rod holders do not have much of the cradle protruding in front of the T-bar, like some other brands. They also come in the Extreme Series model, which has a deeper rod cradle. (I bought mine off the Classifieds, from a member, and these Elite Series holders were what he had to sell) They've served me well for the purpose I intended to use them for, Pushing jigs.

    Let me update this post.
My boat is already set up to push out the front and longline out the back.
I use all B&M PST rods
All my rod holders are driftmaster
What I’m wanting to do is change my setup in the front so I can longline up there and my wife or guest can longline out the back.
I’ve seen boats set up like this but not up close
I was thinking Millinium rod holders
Right now the way I have my mounted my rod holders I haven’t drilled any holes in my boat but I will have to if I change it.
I run the T250 crowfoot on the front right now.

Doug, I got my rod holders from The Crappie Hole in Chapin, SC. Theyre simple but effective. You will like the Milliniums. I switched from Driftmasters to this type holder so all my reels ca sit INSIDE the holder to eliminate the rods from being snatched out of the holder by gars or big cats (I KNOW this can happen). This is the best picture I have of them on the back of my boat...

I also had flush mounts added to each side of the front seat to screw in more T-bars with 4 rod holders each when longlining from the bow. And even 2 more flush mounts for spider rigging off the very front of the bow. When I'm longlining by myself I'll run 14 rods off the back of my boat but when I carry someone with me I let them fish 6 rods off the back and I'll pull 6 rods off the front. Main reason for that is to avoid lines from getting crossed so much. Off the back they'll use all short rods and off the front I'll use a 10', 12', and 14' rods off each side.

My setup might not be the best out there but it works good for me out of my boat and IMO that is all that counts.

    Default Rod Holders?

I use Millenium rod holders and use 8’, 11’ and 14’ rods. If I’m using planer boards then I use all 8’ rods. If someone is fishing in the back, I fish off of one side and they fish off the other on the back. I have found that I get less tangles that way. If I fish by myself, I fish the same setup off both sides up front. Not sure why the pic is small and blurry.

I like the driftmaster crowfoot (it's awesome because you don't hvae to drill any holes) and i run (8) 14ft. rods out front... works for me and i love it.

I use these offshore trolling and anywhere else want to have rod stick out. Run 2 of these and 2 rods cast out, leaned up against gunnel - wait for them to start walking. Rarely troll more than 4 rods - inshore or offshore.

I see the "porcupine boats" and marvel at the guy's ability to manage all those poles. Takes talent.
