    Default Livescope advice

Alright guys to start off, I know less than anyone about live-scopes. My old depth finder played out several years ago and I’ve never replaced it. I’d appreciate advice on the best kind to get. I fish from a 16 ft stick steer Jon.

    Thanks in advance

It really depends on your budget but I would say a Garmin 93sv with a Livescope LS32 transducer is the most common unit used. It's the unit I have. You can go with a larger fish finder and/or the LS34 transducer but it's gonna cost you more. Most would say go with the largest screen you can afford. A 9inch screen works fine for me.

I also have stick steering on 15.5 ft DuraCraft jon boat.
I have not long ago put my Garmin 93SV with the LiveScope with the 32 LiveScope transducer. It works fine for me. Now my brother in law has the big Garmin 12 inch screen with the newest technology with the 34 LiveScope transducer.
His boat is a tiller model on the same type jon boat. The advantage he can see the screen when he is running from the back of boat. Not for LiveScope but for watching his boat tracks as we fish on rivers that has lots of debris in the water.
With that said the only difference as for catching fish you can see the fish at a greater distance and more clear at a distance with the more expensive model of LiveScope. I guess if you cast father than 45-60 feet then you’ll probably like the more expensive model.

Not sure what sick steer has to do with anything? I'm assuming you will be using it to fish/scope and not nav so it will be on the front anyway, correct?

Get the biggest your comfortable spending $ amount for sure. I have a 10 and wish I went with the 12 but it does just fine. I like the ducer on the trolling motor shaft but others like a separate pole. It was just too much work for me and if your good with boat control no need for the pole. Good luck!

If I was doing it over I’d go with at least a 10” graph instead of the 9

the largest screen you can afford for sure , them jigs and dots can be a bear to see from my experience ....
of course I have not been over a small screen unit , everyone that I go with has a larger screen unit and I have a hard time seeing what is going on sometimes on the big screen .....
if the difference is a couple hundred or so , its a no brainer , but I have no clue on costs of those units ....

    I'll give my opinion.

Cheapest Budget option i would recommend 9 inch screen and LVS 32. Both are on sale at Cabela's/bass pro $1650
Money matters but so does better picture quality. 10inch screen and LVS 32. Looks like the $1000 10 in screen is sold out. would have been $2000.

Money is no object. 12 inch screen and LVS 34.

I've had or have 9,10,12 inch screens, I sold the 9, Currently have a 10 and 12 inch Ultra on the bow. If I was doing it again I would only have 10 inch screens. Part of that is due to how I fish. I don't stare at the screen trying to pick off individual fish all day. I use livescope to locate fish then pitch jigs using one 6ft or so rod. I really use livescope to make sure I'm not fishing were there are no fish.

If I wanted stare at the screen and watch the fish bite then I would use the 12 inch screen.

I will admit I've spent more money on electronics than any sane person should. 3 screens and two livescopes. I changed one of the livescopes to the LVS34 over winter but have not had it on the water yet to be able to see if it that much better than the first gen LVS 32.

My buddy went from a 9" screen to a 10" screen just to see if he could see fish bellied down on the bottom. If he hadn't told me he changed screen size, I wouldn't have even noticed any difference in what the screen showed. So far I don't think he's been able to see fish hugging the bottom any better with the larger screen. He's still using the lvs32 transducer, as far as I know.

I fish sitting down, in my boat and his, and I wouldn't really want a screen any bigger than a 9" (which is what I have), because I'd be afraid it would get in my way or force me to have to stand to flip my jigs. Right now my 9" Garmin is center right at the bow and the top of the unit is about 18" above the bow floor. My mount is extendable and I could raise the unit up another 10" or so, but works fine for me as it is.

The above link works. I don’t know what the access denied is all about.
