    Default Megalive

Who here is using it and how do you like it? Can get megalive with the universal pole mount on sale now for about $1500.

Thinking about getting it for my jon boat for crappie fishing. Got into spider rigging a couple years ago I think it would be nice for that.

Anyone use dewalt lithium ion batteries to power your megalive? Seems like that could be a quick efficient way to power.

Mega Live right now is where LVS 32 was when Garmin went to LVS34. I have both MegaLive and LVS34 mounted on a Humminbird TargetLock. With the latest updates, Humminbird has come light years from where they began with it. Other than some target separation inside cover like stakebeds and distance over say 60’, the Mega Live is very comparable to Garmin. I can watch them side by side for comparison.

Lots of folks turn a unit like MegaLive on and expect it to look like the videos on YouTube. It can, but only after the operator takes the time to learn then experiment with different settings until you get what you want. I have come to learn most folks who buy live forward sonar never bother learning how to adjust it and become frustrated with it.

What version software are you running? I need to look at mine and see what I have. I’ve been slow putting it to work.

Rickie and I are upgrading all my Humminbird and MinnKota items today. I think Mega Live will be 1.300.

I think you hit a nail on the head Garmin shines for running right out of the box with out a lot of knowledge on the part of the angler. Mega Live takes some tweaking by the user to get settings right, last year was my first year using Mega Live and really like it, I can see my 1/32 ounce jig and plastic to about 50 feet past that I can get flickers of it but not consistently see it.

This was last years latest update. I updated mine to the new one 2/8/24 but have not gotten out on the water. But with the above video, I could see a 1/16 jig at 70 ft with it. Looking forward to see what the new update does.

I have mega live, 360, and side scan on my new boat. Should be ready this week. I am looking forward to figuring electronics out.

    Default Megalive

Rickie just loaded 1.300 update for my Mega Live onto my new Helix 15. We updated everything. Haven’t used it yet.

    Captain Doug,
do you feel a guy who has all hummingbird electronics would be just as productive with mega live for 1,500 bucks vrs spending 3-4 thousand for a new garmin echomap with livescope? I would really like to get forward facing sonar, but don't really want to shell out that kinda money and have to learn the settings on a new unit. I have seen lots of videos of garmin livescope, i know it's a very nice product, but i also love my Helix's.
