    Default Jigging rod

Interested in adding a new jigging rod to the arsenal and looking for recommendations. I single pole jig Lake Okeechobee mostly. Currently have 2 ACC crappie Stix 10ft rear seat. Love the rods, but open to hear what others like. I’ve heard good things about the BnM tree thumper. Any advice for a new rod? Also open to hear about what length rods people are using for jigging.

    Thanks!

I use a 10' bottom seat rod. I have used several good ones but have settled on the Buck's Ultra-light. This is mainly for the weight difference. I do carry a net with me for the occasional big crappie, bass, gar, grennell, drum or catfish that inhabit the waters I fish.

I mostly use long rods single pole fishing.
I use 12 and 14 foot rods. The ones I use ( Berkley) are discontinued. But any long rod that feels light and is not too “ whipy “ should serve you well.
IMO - The two main advantages to longer 12 and 14 ‘ rods is you can control your jig farther away from the boat and I can pull the rod tip down to the jig and usually un-hook it when I get hung up.

Huckabee Rods has a super lite 11.5' jig pole designed by Jerry Hancock called Stryker . My favorite rod since I have neuropathy .

I have a 13 foot acc crappie stix & a 13 foot Jenkins Kevin Roger’s series jigging rods & their both great rods in my opinion however started using a 10 foot acc crappie stix jigging rod & have pretty much decided it is what I’ll stick with because of having a bad shoulder from an old injury.

I like a rear seat pole, it seems like I can handle a longer rear seat better. I started with a 10ft B&M and tryed a few different lengths and finally decided that a 13ft rear seat was perfect. I have a B&M tree thumper but its on the heavy side, I broke my Ozark in Florida last year and bought 13ft rear seat Precision pole and I have to say its the lightest of all. Grizzly jig has good assortment of poles, once you know what length weight you like call them, they will recommend a few. obtw Ill be on Taylors creek (N end of the big O) in a couple weeks.

Tom, who made this 13' rod? Catch the Fever list a 12 as their longest rear seat.

    Thanks,

Tree thumper is a b/m low end rod . Love the "SAM "HEATON " , Series . the Bucks Best ultra light , is a good one . The ultimate is also a great rod . Never bought a "gold " with the large eyes but some swear by it . Lots of the new stuff is what it is . "SOMETHING NEW " .
