$2/5 jigs + $4 s/h for a fancy collar jig = quite a bit to pay for jigs that damage as much as any collar jig. Thank you but I'll make my own wire grub-grip attachment as follows:

    1. 24g floral arrangement wire
    2. line up as shown
    3. wrap once around post under line tie
    4. clip one side close
    5. bend wire as shown
    6. rig the soft plastic and swing the wire into it. Zero damage when lure removed.

Note: for the least damage to the plastic order collarless jigs on Ebay for .21 each/ free s/h.

    24lbs of crappie were caught, averaging 1.7 lbs/ fish/ 7 fish per day = 11.9lbs. per day!
That's some monster crappie in anybodys book much less that creel weight/day! I'm lucky to catch 3-12" crappie/day!

Color is in the eye of the beholder; the color a fish sees depends on a lot of factors such as the distance underwater the lure is away from the fish, water clarity, sun angle, etc. The clear plastic grub shown above catches fish anywhere/ anytime as long as the lure is near enough like for any lure of any color.

    1. Line color matters:
    a. Fish can be line-shy based on color

    b. Blue line is superior to other line colors because fish aren't spoked by them.

    c. Line-watching is crucial.

    2. Suspending a jig a few feet off bottom and holding it still is an example of vertical fishing.
    (Isn't that a dead-stick presentation?)

    3. A Double-Cross jig head does less damage to soft plastics and holds them better vs one spike on the jig shaft.
(When you answer, consider what happens when changing the lure.)

    4. In a tournament using the certain lure adverised:
In two days, 24lbs of crappie were caught, averaging 1.7 lbs/ fish/ 7 fish per day.
    Is that even possible?!!!

    5. Is jig head color important? The video insisted it is.

    6. a.How often do you float fish vs cast & wind?

b.How many of you use 10-12' rods for float fishing ?

I won't give any of my opinions of which you all know I got plenty! Promise!

Advertising is annoying sometimes but advertising is an important part of fishing. Latest rods, reel, baits, boats and trucks to pull boat are all advertised, marketing a specific audience .
This site is dependent on advertisers. You nor I have to watch videos of people fishing with products they endorse.
nor do we have to purchase said products.
We can make choices as to whether we watch videos and we choose how we spend our money. Actually some of the both funniest and informative commercials I've seen are/were fishing commercials.

If I want a bait keeper on my crappie jig heads I tie on half of a regular staple to the shank of the hook. It's cheap and keeps the plastic secure.

    Advertising isn't the problem:DISINFORMATION IS!
Anglers chose to believe what they want to based on testing new ideas. On Crappie.com those ideas are based on our shared experiences - no brag/ just fact. When someone blows smoke up my (you know what), it puts me on guard leading me to quesion the validity of any future facts from the anonymous source - that source being someone being paid to blow smoke.

The claims quoted were put up for discussion and member scrutiny based on our varied experiences over many years. Believe what you want. Just be aware that the so called facts may not be supported by the claims presented.

(BTW - the jigs are not only very expensive, but do more damage to soft plastic lures when removed than any jig sold. My method does zero damage and allows the lure to be rerigged over and over. Now that's a fact!)

There's an old saying--can't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see---. If I feel a product does not live up to the hype I choose not to buy it. I am slow to buy in with new products and prefer to read reviews from fisherman. Crappie.com is a very good source for learning. I don't post a lot but I do read a fair amount and trust the folks giving reviews on products. To each their own.

That was a nice tip. May incorporate that into my fishing. My problem is finding time to do all the things I want to. But I may have more time in couple years when I retire.

Folks that are solid professionals and good with an LS unit that really have a solid pattern down and a VERY healthy lake to hit might be able to average 1.7 or more for a few days , but to be sure it's a pipe dream to think you can do that all the time anywhere.
a 1.7 lb average is REALLY good , a 2 lb. average is rare and above 2 averages are only in a few lakes under certain circumstances.
    just fyi ....
