    Default Too quiet in here

I’m sitting here pounding beers after work, and thinking. Recipe for trouble. A past romantic affliction - yeah I said what I said - was from the far north. We did have some good thought provoking convos about the differences between here and there.
Brought on by me whining about burning the candle at both ends with fishing and hunting. Here, fishing is year round, and hunting goes on for months. It can take a toll if you try to do it all to the fullest. She told me how up yonder, it was very structured. You had this fishing season and that, deer season was short, but you had other things. Wild rice harvest, morels, ice fishing, blah blah. Said you hit it hard, then did maintenance and put that gear away for the year, prepared for the next thing. I like our freedom and wide open seasons, I do. But I can see some good in their way too. I have seen here in my life in MS deer regs go from super restrictive to full tilt. And crappie fishing tighten up. I remember 50 fish limits everywhere. My question finally. Do you think we will ever see species specific fishing seasons here in MS? Like to hear your thoughts. But behave. Don’t get me in trouble w Slab. I do enough of that on my own!

Good thought provoking post. No telling what the future holds for future rules/regulations on harvesting fish/game I do know we live in an ever changing world with new ideas and thoughts that are a constant ebb and flow.

With that said my 30 a day limit has been more than enough and whatever changes do come I’m still gonna abide by the rules and enjoy what I can while I can. Be blessed tight lines.

It is possible. It all has to do with the fish populations when they do their surveys
The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along

I rarely fish for spawning fish, the populations here have really come back. I like middle of Summer and middle of Winter best.

No offense, but I hope your vote on that doesn’t count. The spawn my favorite time to fish. 90% of what I catch are males.
It would get my vote to have live scope season
tho. I see more reduced size and numbers coming

I am one of those that burns both ends , deer season is long , hog season is 24 7 365 , crappie season is 24 7 365 too , as well as squirrel and bluegill and catfish and the list goes on .
I didn’t like my time up north much , too cold and WAY too regulated.
Trout season was so stupid , imagine every drop of water with fishermen elbow to elbow waiting for first light to cast ….way ding dong for sure .
I just REALLY wish the feds would open up a cormorant season here ….
