Default Anyone ever have a Car/Boat accident?

If so how did it urn out?

Reason I ask, is My new 7/22' Vexus bass boat (retirement rig) got rear ended by a truck in mid Nov. 8. Fast forward 8 long wks later, after review the Marina and manufacture decided it needs a new haul and figured a estimate. I was told it would take until April before the boat was usable again, that would be 6 months without a boat!!!
After the insurance agent sent info to 4 different appraisal companies I got a offer Friday at 4:30pm vis e-mail. it seems they want top pay for the repair and that's it, this about is 75% of what I payed for it new 16 mths ago. In the report they also mentioned the Fair Market Value, which was close to $8,000 more than what they figured!!!
I plan on calling the agent Monday morning to discuss. I will mention a loaner boat as would be supplied if it was a auto. I feel they are offering to pay me to spend another 4 months re-building a boat!!! I'm hoping to avoid court but if they wont budge, I will have to.

    Anyone had experiences like this?

I got mine totaled by a drunk driver. Insurance tried to low ball me but when they called me they figired out pretty quick that i wouldn't roll over & take it. Needless to say they ended up doing me pretty good after i told them either pay or go to court & i didn't care which they decided. I updated the boat by 8 years & still had a little money left so i was happy.

Great, well I'm sure not going to roll over, I can tell you that. Ironically the guy has the same insurance Co. I do and have been very happy with them, let's hope I will continue being happy!

I'm going to follow this and hope you update. An alternative to an attorney would be a Pubic Adjuster which I've used in property claims but never a boat. Another option would be Appraisal and probaly my 1st choice if I was in your situation. I'm sure your policy probaly allows for it. Read your policy. Scott

Well I'll be calling the agent tomorrow. And yes I'm willing to try whatever may work. It's a case of why should I let the people who owe me, determine what they owe me. Fyi the guy driving the truck was sited, so my insurance isn't involved, although I've asked my agent for advice.

What about engine damage? If it was hit that hard I’m thinking there was plenty. Even if not too bad it may have damaged the prop shaft and other things. I would think they would total it out but maybe not these days. Is it going back to the factory? That is the only way I would accept repairs with the transom.
    Good luck.
Just reread your post. It needs a new hull??

Personally unless they try to do me right to begin with I’d get a marine adjuster involved to look at it. My buddy had to after being lowballed by his insurance co when they tried to say his wasn’t totaled when it definitely was.

years ago I ran into a few situations with insurance companies , there is a reason they roll with such a ridiculous high unregulated profit level , just saying .
comps. are your key to winning that situation without an attorney maybe , next call you need lots of comps. to show em .
if that fails the one thing that does not fail for me , is a letter from your attorney.
the 2 or 3 times I had to play that card got them to fix whatever scheme they had to leave me with an empty bag really quickly ....
