I bit the bullet and bought one a few year back , it is made of Starboard like material , The end flips up when you want to use it , folds down
into a recess when not in use. It is Permantly attached to the edge of my front deck ( I have side by side seating just aft of the deck)
very hand and not a trip hazard because of the folding end piece. don't remember the name of the maker. I want to say
it cost about $100.00 but should last forever, and can't lose it , it is always where we needed it.
I have a couple of the golden rules , I would make some one a good deal.

I like that. We could use that for James River blue catfish

I ordered the 16” Ketch Karbonate today. They even offer a 10% military discount. Looking forward to getting it.
    All the best,

I use the golden rule. Cheap, durable, works fine. No need to change just for crappie. It's just a measuring stick.

My Golder Rule went swimming in Jordan Lake a few years back. Been using te Hawg Trough since. You can glue 1/2" round weather stripping in the channels on the back side with weather stripping cement and it will float. it stores beside the seat in my kayak just fine. I don't limit myself to 16" fish either. I don't ketch many crappie over 16", but I often catch bass, white bass, stripers, catfish bigger than that by accident and I want to know their length too. Good fishing!
