I have the EZ Checker, but rarely use it. I use the Golden Rule, because that's what the KDFWR officers use. I just wish it was marked at the 9" length. I measured back from the 10" line and scratched a line at 9" (and marked that line with a Sharpie). I re-mark the line every so often, and after every time the board gets a good cleaning. EVEN SO ... the fish better be closer to the 10" line than the 9" line, or it's going back in the lake. And on those lakes with a 10" size limit, it'd better be an obvious 10.5" fish or it's going back, too.

Just got my Ketch board in last week. Aluminum board. They come in different colors and lengths. Very nice board but are expensive. I have had many plastic boards over the years but most don't hold up good especially the lines and numbers. Hope this will last many years. They also make this in the plastic version for a lot less money.

Anybody want to go in halves on a board? You can have everything from about 9" on, cause I'll probably never have a need for the rest of those numbers!

I forgot to add to my original post but one of the reasons I got this one is I like how I can see the numbers up top (top side) of the board and starts at 1” (unlike others that start at ~10”) as I’ve fished in states with 8” and 9” being legal keepers. I also really like how vibrant the numbers and lines are with 1/4” markings

I probably would too if I had a kayak or if/when I have kids I’ll probably put a tether on it! LOL!

On a sidebar Ketch does make tethers and a clip for kayaks

I went with the 16" ketch board. I looked at all the boards at Cabelas and Bass Pro several times they just weren't quite what I was looking for. The hawg trough was bigger than I wanted and seemed a little flimsy. The golden rule made me feel like I was being judged for wanting to measure any fish less than 10" LOL.

Very happy with the size and quality of the Ketch.

Man! That's a really nice looking one! I like the numbers up top and the vibrant markings. Very nice. I went to their website, and found a smaller one in plastic. Still looks heavy duty, and for my Crappie fishing, 16" will be perfect. I haven't caught a 15" Crappie yet, and if I catch one over 15", I'll release it anyway, so 16" will be a perfect size for my kayak and pond prowler. This is the one I'm looking at now:

I hadn't seen your reply when I was posting above. That's the one I just found! Perfect for what I need. Looks super heavy duty, and I'm the same - I stopped into Bass Pro tonight and the Hawg Trough was super long, and very flimsy. I picked up the Frabill one and it was already broken - told me all I needed to know, so I passed on both of them. Definitely getting the 16" Ketch Karbonate!

    All the best,
