Default Carpet Cleaning with Shaving Cream

Not sure if any of you have seen all the videos showing folks using shaving cream to clean their boat carpet so I thought I’d share my experience with using it. I tried it today and want to say it worked great. I used Barbasol Original Shaving Cream. I lightly dampened the carpet first, applied shaving cream all over carpet, brushed it in with a scrub brush and let it dry for about an hour. Then I used a carpet cleaner with hot water to go over the carpet and remove shaving cream. I actually went over all the carpet twice to make sure I got it all out. Unbelievable just how much crud was removed. Carpet looks better than it has in years and smells good too! I have a Ranger 681VS that’s around 18’ long and it took me 2.5 cans of shaving cream. I was skeptical at first but it worked wonders on mine. Just thought I’d share the way I spent a cold dreary day!

No, like a dummy I didn’t think about it until I was finishing up. I can tell you it really brought back the color. I always vacuum my boat out after each trip but I guess over a period of time there is more crud that’s down in the fibers than you’d think.

That's cool. Never heard of this either. I wonder how it would do on the foam type deck material, like seadeck. I'll have to keep it in mind for sure. Thank you for sharing.

I keep mine fairly clean but maybe a deep clean is due.
