    Default Giving from the Heart

Well I mentioned it in my thank you note. It is that time of year when help is needed most. I and not a rich man, but I still enjoy giving to a few organizations every year. I usually do this

online on Giving Tuesday.(day after cyber Monday) This is a great day because many of them have gotten offers from some large giver to match your gifts. Many companies will match the

gift as well. The company I retired from does this. You simply have to fill out an easy form as you are giving. As, our kids and grands get older we have weaned them off gifts. I am able to

use the money from this for giving. They all have always been happy with this, as I give in their names as well. I will not say who I give to except my favorite is Salvation Army. They don't

pay their volunteers and do not pay the Major much compared to a lot of charities. Do your research when giving to be sure the money is used correctly. One in particular collects stuff,

clothes and money and simply sells for profit .There is no good will in their intentions. Watch out! I usually target some big orgs and try to find a couple smaller ones. I gave to one that

built buses for homeless to shower in and supplied them with soap, towels razors and clean socks and underwear.

Please , do not take this as bragging, it is simply my plea to remind those who can, to GIVE. And just some ideas to help you do it. Every dollar helps someone.

Thanks from my heart, God Bless and Merry Christmas

Great post. And you’re right on with the Salvation Army. I also have good memories of the USO back when I was in the AF. Spent many nice hours in our base USO in Thailand.

Amen! If you ever need a trusted place to give and know it will go to someone in need, buzz the door at any public elementary school. Ask for the principal or office manager. Leave it with them. They know exactly where it’s needed. Who needs a coat. Who’s wearing shoes 3 sizes too big. Who can’t afford shampoo. Walmart gift cards are well received.

    Merry Christmas to All.

Once again D, well said. I just want to say one thing regarding being able to give. We sit here. Night after night and talk or work on our rigs or rods or jigs, and talk some more. There are many in our midst that can’t afford a proper dinner, much less a tablet or internet service for their kids to do their homework on. All I say is to think, keep it to yourself and reach out. It’s what we’re supposed to do.

I support the DAV & a local homeless shelter with monthly cash. Donated shoes to a local "home" for "trafficking victims", and some clothes (still in good shape, just too small) to the Special Olympics. And, yeah, I drop a little $$ in the red kettle now & then. I help unload and unbox the wreaths that are laid on the graves of our Vets & then help lay the wreaths on the graves, and I've given money to Wreaths Across America for the purchase of those wreaths. I'll be doing the same unloading & laying of the wreaths at Camp Nelson National Cemetery again this year, later on this month.

I "can" do this, and shall continue to do this for as long as I'm physically & financially able. I'm with "D" on this ... to do what you can to help those in need. It's the right thing to do.

It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!

I’ll add this…giving is what God calls on us to do. There are so many ways as well.
