Default Thanks for so much Crappie.com

I was talking to a neighbor about a new boat he purchased years ago after he retired. He had never even fished before. Said he was gonna learn and I offered to help. Told me about a "site" he found called Crappie.com and I should check it out. I had to laugh , every body knows you can't catch a fish on the web. But you can surely learn about it. I have been fully hooked ever since. C.c has taught me so much. Some about fishing, some about friendship and some about life. I needed C.c then as a retiree looking for new things to occupy some time. I dove in it and have tried my best to be a good member. I have made so many good friends along the way, Slab and Sharon are two of the best. My mentor, whom this award is named after, "G". Billbob. The man is a joy to be around and is C.c through and through, also a real hero. Jerry. I won't name the rest as I will forget some.

I have traveled to many of the state gatherings. Louisiana north and norther, great guys to spend time with . Mississippi a couple times. Florida east and central. Kentucky. (best skillet food ever). Fished and made friends with Tennessee members(canepole for president). Been to Michigan a few times where I made a couple lifelong friends.(Wow J &J) Yes, I'll ice fish with them someday. Heck, I even joined team overalls there. Even where I live now, SW La., I have made friends and fishing buddies with some members and found a great vet for our doggies.Made a few friends in central Louisiana.
I have been to Grizzly Jigs. Never would have heard of it except for C.c. Been to the crappie expo and met a lot of pro's and hall of famer Wally Marshall himself.

I've been lucky to do some contests. This is where I thank one guy for his help. My first contest, I was very enthusiastic. A certain member, Roy, basically called me down and told me to calm down. He taught me something that day, and it changed my style. Since then, even though I still am at fault sometimes, I have tried to make my my comments more meaningful and less fluffy. A little more personal as well.
I think this is what lead "G" to keep and eye on me and help guide me to the admin side. Thanks Roy and "G".

A couple more things I love about our site. It is clean and family friendly. I always promote it by saying "if you can't say it in front of kids or preachers, we don't want it here". And I do promote it constantly as I am usually wearing C.c apparel and I talk to everybody. lol. I love that we pray for members. Thank you all for that. I thank Slab for letting me promote giving every year around the holidays. In fact, give to help others if you can. Your choice where. I love the contests. I love the group of moderators, such helpful people. I love the fact that you can ask anything and someone on C.c is an expert and can answer. Heck even Slab pipes in. haha.

And yes FB C.c can be a challenge. We have different rules to follow, but overall it stays clean and friendly. Certainly cleanest site on FB.

As my friends know , I am a talker (like Tim, but not as smooth, haha). So I will end by saying thanks. To Slab and the moderators and to all of you members. Reach out anytime if I can help with something. And just wanted to point out, we have the best gewbers on C.c and you are all gewbers. "D"

Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.

Well said D. I couldn’t have said it better. You’re more well traveled than I in regards to the slabfests, and I’m kinda jealous. One of these days I’ll quit using that four letter word that gets in the way of doing fun stuff and I’ll shake more hands. Congrats D, well earned.
