    Default Livescope questions...

I've been eyeing livescope for a minute but need better answers before splurging! Lol What exactly do I need to complete the bundle?? I am finally going to commit more time to crappie fishing on Lake Barkley and Ky Lake.

I'm willing to spend the money, but how much?? Would 4k put me where I need to be? I need to update my trolling motor, too...any and all suggestions welcome! Any black Friday deals on such electronics?? TY, and Happy Thanksgiving!!

I've been running a Garmin 93sv unit & Livescope (Lvs32 tdx) for several years & it's been all I needed. My buddy, slabeye, had the same until this year, when he went to the 10" screen. He's not all that impressed with the larger screen ... FWIW.

My Garmin unit (w/o tdx) and the Livescope bundle cost me $2200 (BBGmarine deal on this site). I didn't get the tdx for the Garmin because I already had a Hook 7 mounted at the bow & it's tdx is on the trolling motor. The Hook is now used mostly for maps/GPS coords.

I've been running the same setup as Pappy for a little less than a year now. It does all I need it to do.

What kind of trolling motor you looking at ?

I haven't even gotten that far yet! Lol I'm just looking for opinions on the livescope bundle AND a good trolling motor.

Until today, I have been running the same setup - an EchoMap 93SV+ and a Livescope LVS32, and it worked great.

I run a UHD 93 sv & a d I y pole mount strictly for livescope with a humminbird helix 9 si gps at console interlinked to a helix 7 g2n at the bow. The 7 is used strictly for viewing waypoints at the bow that are usually marked from the console when scanning since I don’t mark them on the livescope unit. I have a spotlock Terrova trolling motor with us2 to see 2d if I want. Works out pretty good for me.

I can see right now that I've got a lot to study and learn. It's a bit complicated!

Actually, it's pretty simple. You just have to choose your screen size, whether you want a Livescope or a Livescope plus.

A nice, complete setup will cost you about $1,650 right now, with a Livescope and a 93UHV. This is what I am running, and I really like it.
    • The LVS32 is $999. (Livescope- at Bass Pro and other places)
    • The Garmin 93UHV is $649 ( 9" screen- at TheGPSstore.com)

If you want to upgrade to bigger and better...

    • The LVS34 (Livescope plus) is $1,699 at Bass Pro ($700 more for a little better clarity and longer range)
    • The Echomap Ultra 106 is on sale for $999 if you want a bigger, 10" screen ($350 more for 1" bigger)
    • The Echomap Ultra 126 is on sale for $1,499 if you want a 12" screen ($850 more for 3" bigger)
    • There are 16" and 18" to choose from, too.
    • I just saw a 21" screen for $3,999, if you want to go crazy.

That being said, you might want to catch the current sales, as they WILL be going up soon, especially after Christmas.

I hope it works out for you.

There’s a lot of people making a lot of money making it complicated. Any trolling motor besides the old, slow turning electric steer trolling motors like the Power drive and Terrova work well for running Livescope on the shaft of trolling motor, no need for poles or anything else. With the slow turning trolling motors you are pretty much forced to spot lock and use a pole of some sort, which is pretty much hobbling a race horse. I have a lot of hours behind both the LVS 34 and LVS 32 on various 9-12” screens and they all work fine. Screen size is dictated by how close up you get the screen to you as much as anything. If it’s going to be on the deck, you may want to spend a little more for a bigger screen. If you buy or make a mount for screen that gets it up closer to you, the 9” will be fine.

I agree with pab1981 ... I fish sitting down, even when Livescoping. I bought one of the last Cumberland Crappie mounts available and it sets the bottom of the Garmin 93sv unit about 13" above the bow deck. If that wasn't high enough, it's extendable to put the bottom of the unit up to about 23" above the deck. For me, 13" above the deck floor lets me see the screen, the trolling motor arrow, and the rod tip (if held low enough) without having to constantly be moving my head. It's also not so big that it gets in the way of me flippin my jigs.

Like I said before, I fish with a buddy that has the 10" Garmin & if he hadn't told me about changing to it from his 9" screen, I wouldn't have even noticed the screen was bigger.
