Next time take two just in case. I always have way too many jigs in my tackle bag which certainly makes it hard to choose the "right one".
sometimes the fish under bridges just do not want to play let's get ketched . In the river there are several ways to get them to bite , but they are often persnickety.
bridge fish often set up in my opinion as a resting location and not actually in an active feeding pattern , this in turn is seen often on graphs , there will be herds of them on columns and not a peck .
very slowly is the best way to start and sometimes it might be one of several different presentations that entices a bite . downsizing can turn on resting fish and scent added to the jig makes all the difference in most cases , some spots a plain jig will get bit , but way more often than not , a good scent on it will out fish an unscented jig hard .
the best presentation on bridge fish from a boat seems to be a pitch past the column and let it fall back to the fish slightly above them when it comes to rest .
from the bank it is typically a float presentation set fairly shallow to start with 3 to 4 feet deep ,crappie will rise a long way to take a suspended jig .

them jigs are just pretty and act real well in the water and my supply is limited, so more often than not , I only tie one on and have a couple others in my pocket.
keep in mind this about that , has a float on my rod and one in my pocket and 2 to 4 jigs , pack right light is me.
if the cover is heavy I might double whats in my pocket ....

Sunday I went fishing and decided to leave the tackle bag in the truck. Had only my phone, a couple floats and a small box of jigs in my pocket. I do a lot of walking when I fish so wanted to lighten the load. Started fishing and two game wardens walk up checking licenses. Mine was in the truck in my tackle bag. Fortunately they were able to check my license using my social security number. Need to take picture and have it on my phone. Been several years since I've been checked but it is nice to see them out there.

the creeks here often get trampled by the local folks and to be sure the game wardens love to visit with the "crowded" spots .
been checked a few times over the years but not lately , heck many moons ago one was right not so nice to me and EVEN put his hand on his gun while he insisted I needed to scale a rock wall to show him my license
I wasn't near as smart back then as I am now , but to be sure we had us a few words that day , told him it would take me 20 minutes to walk down stream and up to where he was and he could come on down if he wanted to check my fish and license.
Also told him he was ruining the best bite of the day and my stringer wasn't near where it needed to be ....
In the end he was looking kinda froggy and when he put his hand on his Pistola , I agreed to try and tie my license to a rock with some fishing line and throw it up there to him ....

Yikes! I have yet to be checked in my kayak. I've seen them many times and they just don't bother us, they go for the boats.
game wardens are my friends , I am that guy that will call , best not be involved in a highly unlawful game or fish harvest or pursuits around me , just saying , everywhere I visit , my phone has the local for that region on speed dial , this is fact ....
there is simply no need to go abusing the wildlife or waters I hit that will make me look the other way ....

Unfortunately there are many who don't follow the rules even though they know what the rules are. I've called on some guys a few times but they are always long gone before the warden shows up if they show up. Yesterday while fishing a lake stocked with trout that is catch and release only with artificial only three 12-13 year old boys walked up to go fishing and I saw they had hot dogs for bait. They said they were going to fish for catfish. I explained the rules to them since sign is posted on the dock. They still baited up with hotdogs and it wasn't two minutes before a trout swallowed the hot dog on one of their rods and was bleeding bad. He let it go but it wasn't going to survive. If they don't follow rules now when they are young they won't follow them later as adults. Regulations are put up for a reason, I wish everyone would follow them.
