Default Glass Bead above Jig for visibility

    1. In cases where extra weight is not need would glass beads work to make LS jig more visible?
    2. Does color matter to sonar? Is a clear bead as good as anything else?
    3. Would a faceted round bead show up better than a smooth round one?
    4. Since there are times when I need to push the jig off an underwater obstruction with my rod tip, my plan is to try a bobber stopper below (and maybe above) the bead to hold it in place. But it would also slip down to the jig when attempting to free an underwater hung up jig.

These are the clear beads I’m thinking about.

I suppose you could, but I've never had much of an issue seeing a jig, that didn't need extra weight.

I'd try clear or as neutral of a color as I could. Depending on the mood of the fish and their depth, I'll add weight to stuff 1/8 and under, occasionally fishing 1/8, 1/16, on their own, but the problem you sometimes run into with weight is the fish hitting it.

size is important with any kind of reflection technology , the larger a solid object is the easier it is to see with sonar and etc.
bigheaded jigs rule with LS and or the pegged weight above them too .....more surfaces to reflect is better

Man, with what rods cost nowadays, I ain’t sticking tip down there. I’ll just lose a rig if straight line pull won’t bring it out

I use a 1/4 inch bead ( I've used clear and black, no difference) . and a leader 18-24 inches. I like it for several reasons.
I like to drop the jig just inside the brushpile , I can see the bead , and lower it to the top of the brushpile, don't have to
guess where my jig is. Also when I am landing a fish , when I see the bead , it is time to start the flip. No more reeling the
fish all the way to the surface and having it flip off. The bead also keeps the grandkids from reeling the fish all the way to the
    rodtip.

    your mileage may vary

I've never really thought about using a glass bead but I'm going to get some to experiment with now. Thanks for sharing.

I'm not sure i'm following about not needing extra weight. The extra weight it to get the jig down to the fish faster, and to help with seeing it on live scope. I guess I don't know why you'd live scope without it. When live scoping you're not trying to perfect the fall rate of the jig. You're putting your jig on the fish's nose. If he doesn't bite it you move on to the next fish. You only need to worry about fall rate when you can't see the fish.

I describe Crappie Fishing as "A Thinking Man's Game" as we always have to figure something out to consistently keep catching Crappie. This Post proves it.
