I’ve tried just about everything possible as an indicator above the jig to increase visibility. I have used smooth and faceted beads, plastic and glass, with and without a sinker above, pegged with toothpicks and bobber stops and even buttons. I now use a faceted plastic bead with bobber stops for increased visibility. Advantages of using a bead or multiple beads above a jig or even a hook is when you can’t visually see the jig by itself. For example, dropping a bait into a thick brush pile or heavy limbed tree. It’s easy to lose its location without the beads. Also water that’s wind blow and has a lot of air (soft water) makes it more difficult to see a jig, especially anything under a 1/16oz head.If the fish want a small profile such as a 1/32 head with 1” jig, I might add a bead above so it’s easier to see on the screen and adds a lil weight so it doesn’t take all day to drop to the fishes level. I adapt to the situation and adjust.
