Default Sam Rayburn TX Trip October 2023

Left Sportsman's Paradise and traveled to Sam Rayburn TX to slay some slabs and just get away from the daily routine with my bride for a few days with some friends. Weather turned cold and very windy which shut down the bite and made fishing very hard. We tried our best and had a blast pursuing the elusive Sacalait in a totally different environment. My bride landed her personal best ever PBE sacalait and that made the trip highlight reel. We will be back to Rayburn next year hopefully when the weather cooperates. My bride captured the beautiful sunset picture.

    Bon Temps!!

I fished Rayburn as a kid. It was always great. The fish camp we always used had a tractor with a trailer hitch on the front and they launched your boat for you when needed. All the Ole' Timers fished stick steer bass boats with 25 Evinrudes and the like. Their big catch was OPS, Big Opelousas Catfish. When one was caught everyone in the fish camp ate fried catfish when it was cleaned. Sam Rayburn is a very cool place to fish. See you Friday for another Pearl River Adventure.

That's my home lake. I can tell about where you were from that pic. Glad you had a good time and congrats on the lady's personal best!
Come back when the lake isn't so low, it's more enjoyable when you aren't so worried about stumps.
