Tawak is my favorite lake to fish. My dad taught me how to crappie fish on Tawakoni back in the early 70's. You are correct in saying it can be a very dangerous lake if you don't know it. Not only does it have the big woods right in the middle of the lake but you can also get beached on it's many shallow points. The only time I go south of the bridge is when chasing those striped fish. Hubbard is 10 minutes from me but I could never master crappie fishing on it. Fork is about a hour but I was stop at Tawakoni since it is closer and I am more familiar with it. The lake I need to learn is Cedar Creek. I want make a prediction other than you will have a blast on Tawakoni. You can chase those hybrids if you get your limit early.

"WHHHHUUUUTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!! BEACHED ON T-WOK?????" Grainraiser I also sunk my boat on 10-15-23 getting beached at a cut through on Lavon with 20+Mph Winds slinging 3+foot waves over my boat top where I was standing in over an ankles depth of water. Wave after wave. Wow on T-Wok I would have be not able to type this. When I get that Tom Mayne Boat Lane I will experiment South of the 2 Mile Bridge NAUGHT B 4! Thanks for this I didn't know that was possible on T-Wok.

Hubbard is 10 minutes from me but I could never master crappie fishing on it.
Grainraiser Ole Mother Hubbard is the lake I actually reside on. Hubbard has taught me so much about fishing that's it's unreal. Hubbard has made me stop fishing to play golf & every window I open I have to see it staring at me saying Ha.. Ha.. So I had to learn it. It has taught me so much about patience. PERIODT! I call it Ole Pray Hubbard. You can search Hubbard ALL DAY & NOT EVEN FIND CRAPPIE! So when I go to T-Wok, Fork, Ray Roberts, Lewisville, Richland Chambers, Lavon, Arlington, Benbrook, Palestine, or Lake Bridgeport and ACTUALLY SEE FISH?????? It's over more than likely. Also, many times you can find Crappie on Hubbard and they Spook from 25 feet away. So you still can't catch them. But there are some things ya can do. I keep a bottle of Holy Water on the boat to sprinkle on the line.

You can chase those hybrids if you get your limit early.
Grainraiser I said to myself this month!!! I'm going to learn to Hybrid Bass & Striper fish by the end of 2024. I enjoy catching and eating Hybrid & Stripe Bass but have never learned to target them. I will by 2024 & as always I'm going to teach myself da hard way so it's easy.

The lake I need to learn is Cedar Creek.
Now for this part of your message. Sir I don't enjoy Cedar Creek. You all can have that Lake. It produces Crappie & Fish but Cedar Creek is a Brushpile Lake & when you know the lake it's Great Crappie Fishing because you know where to go. When you don't know the lake & the water is down so you can't Dock Shoot you are going to have fits on that lake. Only timber I know of on Cedar Creek is North of 334 Bridge. What makes a good Crappie Lake to me is:
    *Crappie can be on Timber
    *Crappie can be on Brushpiles
    *Crappie can be on Ledges
    *Crappie can be roaming
*Crappie can be all over the lake caught using various methods
However, some lakes are Crappie Bridge Lakes, or something ONLY which makes that not a great Crappie Fishery to me. Fork, Palestine, T-Wok, Lavon (Yep I said Lavon), Richland Champbers, Ray Roberts, Lewisville are good Crappie Fisheries. The one I need to learn but don't like making the drive is BOB SANDLIN & LAKE OF THE PINES! Great Crappie Fisheries I hear but I'm passing lakes to go drive further is head scratching to me so I say NOPE!

Thanks for the comments Grainraiser. Tighlines to ya & don't be a Just a moment... stranger..

I tell you one thing brother I can't wait to fish lake Bois D Arc. Above 897 that lake has more timber than Vietnam. It's to thick for big boats too access so I will have to attack with the 2 man Pelican bass boat. I just start salivating when I ever I see those heavenly waters. I can't wait for it to open.

Yea I'm on their News Feed List to where when it does open they email me. I think it should be open when we both die & come back as cats.. It will sure take pressure of Fork & other Lakes. Me however, unless it has a Boat Lane like Fork, or someone has a tried & used Boat Lanes Chip I've changed my mind on driving 1hour 30 minutes & would rather learn Bob Sandlin where I can safely navigate the waters with a Guided Lane Map so I don't tear up either of my boats. Will you share some of their Crappie with your new Crappie Brudda from uh different Mudda please so I can taste them??
