Looks like you got yourself another stop on your crappie route. I'd walk miles to find a spot like that here. That new spot has a huge pay out, fun times for sure.
Traveled far and wide yesterday , first stop , food drop to the needy , second stop , our place in the country , third stop was for work and discussing a new product packaging idea .
Last stop was a Pit Stop to see if the fish might want to play lets get ketched .....
As we chatted about the packaging there was a moment when crappie came up in our discussion ....who would a ever thunk it right .....
Well the word was this .....
open the gate on the far side down that way .....
drive on the big earthen dam until you get the the big ole pc. of concrete pipe ....
hear they been ketchn crappie down there ....
the road will dead end at the spillway ,but you can turn around on the concrete spillway ....!
acting on said information I went down that path and found said pipe .....
began casting in the area with a float and a jig ....
an Arkie solid body in white 12 inches under said float .....
HE WAS RIGHT ! there they was ...wanting to play lets get in the selfie photo please ....
seems the bank along there is where lots of small branches end up that get in the lake ....
south wind puts them there and they sink ....right up against the bank the fish were in 24 inches of tangled up waters .....
never been to that end of that lake , but might visit it again , just saying ....
pretty amazing to find them so shallow and they were not alone , bass and big bluegill were with them ....
so the next time someone says try down that way on your Pit Stop .....
try it for sure .....KABOOM might be right there ....
the fish were solid and the bite was too , they would not spit out a jig and one crappie came to hand with it's mouth clamped down on the bait like a bullhead catfish ......good stuf for sure !
now mind you this part , when you hold a nice crappie up for an image and it's tail is almost to your elbow ....
THATS a crappie by golly ! crappie.com ballcap and shirt on this visit too .....

it is such that my list of spots is rather long within about 1.5 hours of my house , often times I hit several per road trip , just to see where who what and when in most cases , it has been said I know where EVERY crappie is within an hour of my house , not sure if that is truthful , but to be sure the odds of ketch crappie go up dramatically if you can find them
