Default The Clear Fork Escape !

Sometimes you just hear about the BIG one that got away . Somehow it Escaped to fight another day if you will. Well this is just such a tale.
The fish was an absolute monster crappie ! The kind you dream about and or have a nightmare about depending on the outcome and or opportunity to ketch said fish.
Well I would like to introduce you to the fish that made just such an the escape , Likely in the high 2 or better range and fighting just like a big ole black bass all the way right up to the marble sized gravel bar right before dry land .
About halfway to the bank it got really decent air time for a crappie and made the heart skip at least 3 beats .
Sometimes luck plays into these scenarios and sometimes it isn't the angler that has the magic luck card in his or her hand .
The good news is this , it looked to have lot's of life in it as it rocketed away from the bank and seemed to even whisper a mini laugh on the departure . Of course there wasn't much humor in it for the angler who captured the ONE still shot of it when the hook came out and the eye to eye contact that it made with him or her .
I could say it was a really stupid big black crappie , BUT in the end, it IS a stupid big black crappie , out there waiting in the Clear Fork of that there Trinity river in hopes of hurting the next anglers dreams and wishes ......
    KABOOM is the word btw

That’s one of those ones that keep you coming back! It was a monster for sure. Full of fight and spirit and hopefully pass on those genes to another generation. Thanks for the walk along!

Cool pic. Would have been good to put hands on monster crappie but that's the stuff that excites you for the next trip.

Crappie like that you never forget about. Might not be a still shot with you holding your trophy but the crappie waving good bye is a great memory. Jumping crappie might be uncommon but I've had a few jump more than once and some will throw the jig back at you while they are doing it. Always seems to be the big ones. If I would have lost that one I may have gone in after it, done that a few times but don't remember ever actually getting the fish.
