    Default Indicators

A spot that I found a few weeks ago seems to be just full of bluegill and bass , no crappie best I can tell , have not hit it ridiculous hard just yet and know there are catfish in it as well from a local who showed me one he got out of there.
Hit it yesterday before work and when I walked onto that public dock , there at me feet were chartreuse crappie nibbles in the cracks of the decking material !
a possible "indicator" of crappie in them waters maybe ?
Now did I find a crappie in the 30 minutes I pitched my lil baby jig you might ask , NOPE ....
but I did manage to ketch 14 bluegill and 5 bass and hooked "something" that was flat out a monster fish .....
likely a real big channel cat from what I could tell and almost got it to the surface , knew it was not going to get landed , but wanted to at least get an image of it in the water before it whipped me and my xtreme light with 4 lb test and a micro jig .....NOT HAPPENING is the word .....
chewed my pretty little jig all up , bent the hook and sent it back to me about the same velocity as a 22 rimfire ....
all good , it ain't over yet , my return visit in the future might just include 6 lb test and a little stouter rod , sure hope I find a crappie in there , but as of yet no dice ....
    stay tuned ....
    KABOOM is for sure near
p.s. careful when you wear a crappie.com ballcap , the darn things need to come with a disclaimer about the possibility of tackle destruction and ketch lots of fish too ....

they are not huge .but boy howdy are them things in numbers in there , they have moved out to deep water now ,just like the pond I hit west of town last weekend , I was pitching my jig 6 foot deep under a float , the shallower waters in the local ponds are now pretty much void of fish activity ....
them pond fish can go from summer to winter in a blink when the average temps outside fall down and hold for a few days .....

Everything will eat nibbles, if there are crappie in the lake you'll find them. Pretty nice mess of fish for that short period of fishing. You'll be back for more.

yep , nibbles attract all sorts of fish , just surprised me to see them chart ones on the dock , pretty sure there ain't no crappie in there , but it's a way convenient pit stop with brand new pretty dock in that there pond .
I was in the mad as fire mode when I rolled out of the house and told myself I best stop and get tranquilized before I hit work and fire half the crew .....

Funny how one can hook a monster on ultralight and be happy just laying eyes on him. Landing him is just a added bonus.

it's a good thing I didn't see a huge paper mouth do that to me , I would likely be camping there for several days and having some mighty terrible dreams as well
