The flash in those jigs are like a neon sign saying "DINNER TIME". I've modified the duck jig several times over the years and really happy with them. No more changes now. I use Krinkle Mirror Flash from CASCADE, duck feathers and a little bunny hair tied in at the throat to finish. Never had the paint chip on my paint jobs since I started layering my paints. Mallard flank feathers do have a curl at the base of the feather so I cut the bottom portion off since you don't need that part anyway. Then I put them in a plastic storage bag and squeeze the air out until bag is flat. Next time I use them they are almost flat with a slight curve.

them are DEADLY bro , just look so good when swam along a bit , looks like a flickering shad when it gets moved ever so slightly .....
might have to see what a dozen or so are worth to ya when I run out , them are likely SUPER DUPER deadly in the deep winter deep water bite
those winter crappie are often times suckers for a really still handtie , that undulation with almost zero movement will look JUST like a not so happy winter shad ....

I’ve long admired Jim’s work and tried my hand at it a few times. There is a knack to it that I don’t yet have. I had some of his spinnerbaits til I got talked out of two from folks who just went on about them so I had to give em one. One got stolen by a bass that was bigger than my line. Keep doing what you do Jim, they definitely work.
