High end Winston boron rods in US start at $1000 and the Japanese boron models start around $800.

I didn’t realize they were so costly. Thanks for the explanation

Boron rods in the 80’s were a lot less expensive but a lot of breakage. I think because boron is more difficult to work with, most of it could be labor though they are very light and highly sensitive/durable now.

I've got a boron 5'6" UL rod from the early 80s that is my go to ultralight, but I have no idea who made it because the name rubbed off about 20 years ago. It is really sensitive and light weight. Caught a 16 Lb. Striper on it pulling a #5 Shad Rap on 6lb. test on Kerr Lake by Steele Creek. Thought I was hung on a stump, but when I put the big motor in reverse, drag was still burning off the reel. Had to throw the trolling motor down and run on 24V high speed to chase him down. It took 22 minutes to land and there's no telling how many runs he made before I got the net under him.

Caught truckloads of crappie & white bass (including my P.B. 4 lb.4oz. white bass...thought it was a 7 lb. largemouth the way it pulled) on that rod. Still has the original Mitchell 308 I put on it new.

Super looking rod. Really pretty dressing on it. My Dad had one and it was everything that has been said so far. Don’t know where it got off to but it was sweet and weighed next to nothing.

That's a pretty rod, even if it's out of my budget.

Yep. Gorgeous looking rod but also beyond my budget by a long shot. I hope it performs well for you.
