my bud and I used to specialize in ketchn hybrids back in the day for fun and consumption too , of course he does it full time now as a guide , but to be very sure I et lot's of them there striped torpedoes back when .....
them fish pull ridiculous well . we had the second largest in the state at one point and silly us let it lay on the deck since it wouldn't fit in the live well that day ....
probably would have been the state record at the time , seems we were about 6 ounces shy of the top dog , but we was just a ketchn and eating them .....
btw ......ever seen a fella jerked out of his seat and over the side on a hook set .....
but way better was the hookset and the line peeling off like he hooked up a nascar ride and the moment the line ran out !
that heavy line snapped so hard and loud it sounded like a handgun went off in the boat ....man was that hilarious ....
i bought cried while he cussed I tell ya .....
just funning with ya , I used to eat carp and other fish that folks think ain't edible as well , had a many a fried bullhead when I was a younger fella
heck I tried EVEN a few goldfish one time , not kidding

I'm sure it wasn't .... but, did you ever take a dare to eat a Gizzard Shad cooked over a campfire ?? I did, back when I was young & stoopid. Wasn't so bad from the taste point, but a mouth full of tiny bones stabbing you in the tongue & roof of the mouth was enough for me to spit that wad of misery about 6ft and sling the rest of the critter back out into the lake from whence it came.

nope on shad , high in omega oils I bet ....
goldfish had that white bass with it's red line intact flavor with a for sure distinct taste of mud on the after thought .....sure made my family say ok , let's not bring anymore of those home please .....
