The only thing about fishing light weight in brush piles is they don’t have the weight to free themselves if hung up as much as a heavier jig. For me I’ve found the Limits Tackle 1/16 oz wedge head jigs with #6 J-hook work about the best in cover. Something about the wedge turns the jig so it doesn’t hang as bad if fished slow and thoroughly. Also, if you tie the mono weed guard on they are awesome. I’m going to use this technique to fish above the pile before jumping right in there like I usually do and see how it works for me. Thanks rojoguio.

I got help to edit my videos recorded fishing the technique written about in this October 2023 CrappieNow article. Don’t Spook Your Crappie - Crappie Now
When you get a chance to look at the water depth on my Plotter it's deep. I'm fishing Cut Banks that have structure washed in. Presenting the jig has everything to do with teasing the fish not just to bite but to rise out of the pack and bite. The second thing I wanted to demonstrate is how I either get the fish in the air as they are rising anyway but get them out of the water or lead bigger fish away from the group before bringing to the surface to splash. I hope you find this helpful if you're struggling to catch Crappie. I'm using a 12ft Bucks Graphite Jig Pole but in a new action (2 years old pole). I do not know when BnM changed over actions but I really love these rods! I cut the handles down by half on all mine because I choke up on the grip to hold my index finger on the blank at the forward termination point of the grip. Also I'm fishing in my TIN Boat rig.
