A general rule of thumb I've always heard is start pulling cranks when surface tempatures get to 70 or above. Hang them up when get below 70. That's MS lake's though. I have pulled cranks in early May when surface temp were low to mid 60s and hammered them. I will say in our area most folks are done with crankbaits by the end of September. And there are exceptions to every rule.
