How many rods does your area allow per person? I've done the float on one rod in the water while casting a jig with the other. Allows me to miss two fish at the same time Although I do get lucky sometimes and hook one.

Don’t think there’s a limit. He has 2 rods: both had floats but he had me change one to a roadrunner, he tossed it out a couple times but stresses that he won’t know when he has a fish on (I tell him he will know). One of the big issues with high functioning autism is anxiety so I personally think him fishing with two poles will stress him. This last year he’s come a long way, his school, riding bikes and fishing have improved leaps and bounds. I’ve learned when he struggles with learning something new to back off and give him a little more time.

Thanks for all the ideas and suggestions the crappie.com members have shared with us it’s a huge help!

I think it is great that he is thinking about how he is fishing and not just tossing stuff out there because someone told him to do it a certain way. I believe virtually every jig in your tackle box can be fished several ways and you shouldn't be sold on a single technique for a certain jig type. I have always subscribed to the advice that if what you're doing isn't working do something else.
